Line ups

With Burmi gone and with Seto and the Frolik trades, can someone please, post/makes the lines we may have for the up coming season.

Edit: I know there will be more signings and trades, when that happens, we can just update it in this thread.

Here's mine:

Ladd Little Wheeler

Kane Scheifele Seto

Tangradi* Jokinen Frolik

Wright Slater Peluso

* I am hoping we can sign Raymond to take the third line LW slot and push Tangradi to the fourth line.

Enstrom Bogosian

Clitsome* Buff

Stuart/Clitsome Trouba/Redmond/Postma

* While I'm ok with Clitsome in the number 4 spot ideally we bring in someone so that we can use him on the bottom pairing. I also think one of Redmond/Postma are traded in a package to adress our 2nd pairing.

The only variables are really who we sign or trade in the future, and where Jokinen/Scheifele play. The 1st and 4th lines are set, as are the D-pairs.

I think that looks best. Granted, I think by Christmas Scheifele will be on the second line and Trouba on the second pairing.

If they don't add another centre:

LLW
Kane-Joker-Gooch
Tangradi-?-Frolik
Wright-Slater-Peluso

? - Could be O'Dell, Scheifele or in an awful ugly yucky scenario - Wright. *shudder

As it stands now, with the big 3 signed to reasonable deals, I see it looking something like this:

I think I'm pretty low on RFA numbers likely, and I've AHLed / assumed traded a couple guys.

Our D depth probably has Trouba in the AHL at least to start, and I'd like to see us sign at least one more top-9 quality center, so that Scheifele isn't shoehorned into that spot.

If both those 2 at least start the season in the AHL we're looking at around 5 million in cap dollars to work with. Grabovski is the only center left in free agency that I would give term to, but even then I probably don't want to do more than 3-4 years since that's likely what were looking at in terms of players coming off of ELC's. There's also potential for 1 more winger signed under this scenario, if you want to push Tangradi down to the 4th line and not be forced to use O'Dell immediately. I would probably look to just sign a random bottom six winger for a year at < 1 million.

Ulitmately, I'm not sure Grabovski wants to sign here, and really not sure it would work out all that much better than Burmistrov, may be wrong but they strike me as fairly similar players. With no Grabovski I think our best bet is to just re-sign Antropov for a year at a low cap hit and let him and Jokinen platoon as middle-6 centers. That would insulate Scheifele if he's not ready to have the minutes yet, but still allow him significant time as a call-up when Antropov inevitably gets injured, and if Scheifele is ready for the 2nd/3rd line C spot they could just move Antro to wing for the time being.

Grabo would work better than Burmi if Noel chose to play Grabo with offensive players. Which he probably would.

As the post-game show callers say, you win by scoring more goals than the opponents. Clitsome was +10 last season, and he was not exactly playing "Randy-Jones-sheltered-minutes". Byfuglien was -1. As long as we win, I'm happy. I don't care whether it's 8-7 or 1-0.

LLW
Kane - Jokinen/Scheifele - Setoguchi
Tangradi - Jokinen/Scheifele - Frolik
Wright - Slater - Peluso
Thorburn

Enstrom - Byfuglien
Clitsome - Bogosian
Stuart - Redmond
Postma
Trouba

Pavelec
Montoya

Barring any trades or signings, this will be our lineup. Redmond, Trouba and Postma will be a revolving door for the 3rd pairing RHD. Scheifele will start out on the third line and may get flipped to the second if Claude thinks he deserves it.

Mostly the same lineup as last year, adding Scheifele, Frolik, Setoguchi and Trouba, removing Antropov, Burmistrov, Wellwood and Hainsey. The only one of those tradeoffs which will not be an immediate improvement, IMO, is Trouba for Hainsey, although obviously in the long term that should turn out to be an upgrade. I think our roster is better than last year, wonder if it's enough though.

I'd think we have 2 glaring holes at fwd and thats basically it.

Ladd - Little - Wheeler
Kane - ??? - Setoguchi
??? - Jokinen - Frolik
Wright - Slater - Peluso

Enstrom - Bogosian
Clitty - Buff
Stuart - Trouba/Postma/Redmond

Pavelec
Montoya

By the looks of it one of our RHD could be traded for a solid 3rd LW or 2C, but in reality I think we will see Scheifele and Tangradi or O'Dell plugged into those two slots.

If you have Trouba as #7, there is no way is he staying in Winnipeg. Its Pardy/Postma as 7/8

First of all, a big hello to everyone here. I've been reading posts on Thrashers/Jets boards for like six years now, I just thought it was about time to join. Don't mind my language, since there is nothing to like about learning English at a german school

From what we have on our roster as of right now, I'd try this:

Ladd-Little-Wheeler
Kane-Scheifele-Setoguchi
Tangradi-Jokinen-Frolik
Wright-Slater-Peluso
O'Dell/Thorburn

Entstrom-Byfuglien
Bogosian-Clitsome
Stuart-Trouba
Redmond/Postma

Pavelec
Montoya

Still, I fear that Scheifele and Jokinen will switch spots, since there is no defensive attitude in Jokinens game at all. But even if we'd end up with Scheifele centering Frolik and Tangradi, those three could form a very interesting trio IMHO.

If we keep Trouba, he has to be in the Top 6 , anything else would just be pure waste of time. Pair him with Stuart so he can learn more about in-zone Defense, and give him some looks on the point in PP2

I gotta give you guys (Jay Gatsby + GermanJetsFan) credit. I always find Europeans from central and northern Europe always have very good english (for being a second language). My second language is supposedly french, but I'm god awful with it.

Depends on the country you're talking about

French people hate to speak english (and every other language in the world but French). It's a cliche but it's true. In Spain people are ok with English and so are people in Italy.

In Germany, most people speak English, yes, but I still have the opinion that we translate way too much. People in the Netherlands and northern Europe speak it on a higher level, not because they're more intelligent but they have very few translated movies or TV series. If the whole country is growing up, watching movies and TV series in English with subtitle, they will learn English perfectly. We translate way too much in Germany (Germany is the most active synchronisation-country in the world).

Exactly what I was going to say. I grew up with dutch and german as my mother tongues since my dad is dutch. There are only 16 million dutch people, but they're insanely good at talking English

My family is from Germany and those that are still there can speak it quite well. I agree about the french, it's their stereotype, but it's true.

I also have quite a few Swedish friends and their English is excellent. Same with some of the Polish people I know.
