So are you looking for enforcers, tough guys, guys good at fighting?

Or, just list a bunch of random players who fought at least 1 time in their carrer? That appears to be what your list is about.

I want a list of the top ten best fighters in the nhl, the majority of the best fighters in the nhl are enforcers. The players that I listed for honorable mention are players who fight often and are good at it (players that you could put on your list if you want to, they're just examples). Just give me a list of who you think are the top ten best nhl fighters for the upcoming 2012-2013 season.

Funny no one mentioned Chara !

i know he is not properly an enforcer ... but can enforce effectively and in the most tough way !
To me he is the toughest.
(he use to share this position with BGL before ... IMO)

I don't think there are 10 legit enforcers in the NHL today. I define an enforcer as a guy who plays regularly enough that you'd feel compelled to fight him in situations where it was borderline-necessary, and would be fairly concerned about having do so.

Macintyre is the best fighter in the league, but not good enough to get a regular shift. If the Pens were to say, screw it Mac is playing 10 minutes a game every game, he's easily number one, but he's not enforcing anything at the NHL level playing in WBS. Same goes for Scott although he gets more ice time.

So, for me it's:

Lucic
Carkner
Chara (minus points for him being so good, it's a win just getting him off ice for five minutes)
Engelland
Rupp
McGrattan
Thornton
Boll
Kassian
Scott

You mean by throwing one punch and slipping? That seems to be all he has done since he smacked David Koci around in 2007.

My favorites though are Erskine and Orr cause they both cleaned Lucic's clock

Chara is the toughest enforcer bar none. He doesn't even need to fight to intimidate and bully people.

Ryan Wilson deserves mention when it comes to fighting prowess, much better than Cody McCleod...

Chara isn't an enforcer. He's a huge defensemen who rarely fights. I'll admit, he lit up Koci in '07, but he either tackles the opposing fighter or slips at the beginning of the fight. He's not an enforcer just because he's big.

Isn't the premise of being an enforcer is to intimidate other players.. i think he does that aptly. I don't think hes the best but he's def top 10.

Yeah, nothing to be ashamed of. Orr and Erskine are really tough. Erskine has been one of my favorite players for years.

So what you did was,

name people who fight a lot, and put them in two categories...

Fair enough...

You're an idiot, that list that I put there are honorable mentions. They're just examples of players (that fight often and are decent at fighting) that you can put onto your list. Then I have a list of players who I think are the top ten best fighters in the NHL.

Dont know how Colton Orr is so low on your list, hes been doing it for years, hes fought everyone and beat everyone. He wins the majority of his fights and is tough as nails. Hes lost some fights but when you fight 20-25 times a year and each of those opponents are all tough heavyweights your not gonna win every fight. And when he does lose its rarely a clear loss, usually just got out punched but still was a great fight. He has got caught a few times in his career but who hasn't.

He has Steve MacIntyre on there that's more dubious than Shelley being on there, he's played a grand total of 13 games (1 game last year) in the last two years while mainly being in the AHL. Shelley played 31 games in the last two years (1 game last year but was hurt the whole year). Shelley also hasn't been in the AHL since 2001.

Shelly isn't worthy of a top 10 selection though, he was brutal as fighter during his time with the Flyers, I could count on my one hand the amount of fights he's won in that time, majority of them were against Mike Rupp too.
