Nic Petan Highlights

Really excited about this guy. Check out a highlight reel from last season here.

Nice solo effort at 3:15!

Kid looks like he's got the skill to be very good. We'll see about his physical growth, but I like the pick.

Not sure it needs a thread for his highlight tape tho

Eh, I just thought we needed a positive thread to balance out a bit of the doom and gloom.

If that's the case I'm on board!

I watched this the other day. Thank you very much for posting it again!

Love the vision, patience, and hustle displayed on a lot of the clips. Obviously we aren't going to see everything in a five minute cut-up, but there are definitely a lot of positives to take away from Nic's game.

I can't wait to see his progression in the next few years!

Hopefully he gets a chance to set something like that up here. I was really impressed with his play making. Would go great with a guy like Kane in the future.

What is with some of the terrible music choices people use for highlight videos?

Recently I've had to put something else on in the background and mute the actual video.

It sounds like elevator or porno music.

I watched this the night of the draft. Really like what I saw. I may go back and check out some Winterhawks games and watch more than just his highlights.

That's exactly what I thought. It's like some weird blend of the two.

I couldn't quite decide between the two.

So... I started watching the Winterhawks game where they eliminated the Oil Kings. Petan and Rattie were together killing a penalty and he beautifully stole the puck and set Rattie up for a SH goal. I'm going to take a video and post it here. I'm already impressed!

Almost as terrible as that avatar choice.

Up The Gunners!

Is there a place where you can watch archived WHL games? Would actually consider purchasing that if the video quality was okay.

I was waiting for an opening to give you a hard time about that avatar. And yeah, I dislike Chel$ki (and Man City) far more than I dislike Spurs.

This was the big standout for me in this year's draft (other than our first rounder). I really think this kid will be something special if he can translate his game to the big leagues. His talent is something the Jets prospect pool is sorely lacking, and that's pure talent.

I remember watching him a couple of times and he was very noticeable on the ice. It looked like something was going to happen every time he had the puck. The big thing is his size, if he was a bit bigger he probably would have gone high in the first round.

Great vid. Him being a highly skilled undersized player has really gotten me rooting for him to make it to the bigs.

Goodness gracious that kid is fast, and has great hands and a quick release.

Me likey.

BTW, that Oil King defenceman who Nic pushed off the puck was 6'5", 191 lbs O.o

Haha, I kind of figured since I've been sporting it since the transfer window opened.

I guess maybe it's because I don't live in England, but I like the rivalry with Arsenal. Other than when they play each other I actually wish Arsenal well. It may also be because two of my good friends are gunners.

I absolutely loathe Chelsea however, as I hate the money teams and they've stolen players right from under our noses by simply bidding stupid prices that we can't match for them (Oscar, Mata, etc.) Hopefully the new spending rules help mitigate the problem.

You're right.

Audere est facere is the code I live by.

I wish NHL teams had motto's. Liverpool's is actually one of my favourite's.

I was fortunate enough to get to a match at old Highbury park and although the gunners were not playing the spurs that day I was struck by how intense the rivalry was because in the pub I pregamed at they kept showing highlights of their old Derby's.

Suprised Blues10 hasn't dropped by to defend Chelsea

I've been to London for a week and went to Emirates but wasn't able to watch a game (as it is pretty hard most of the time but you probably know about it).

My most hated team is Tottenham, no question about it. And I'm a Gunner since 2004, I don't have a true favorite soccer team in Bundesliga.

I think Bundesliga puts out a great product. It's just too bad that teams like Dortmund, Schalke, Leverkusen, Hamburger, etc. Constantly produce such great players, but they never truly get to reap the benefits and have the players when they reach their peak. Plus since Bayern has all the money they consistently get to be kings until another team (Dortmund recently) has so much young talent they can overrun them. Which Bayern then just buys off them since they have the money.

It's one of the reasons my soccer fandom gets really tested at times. With North American sports you usually get to see your star players stay as your star players.

Plus I'm way too stubborn in picking underdog teams (Atlanta Thrashers, Tottenham Hotspur, Hoston Texans) as favourites and in soccer it's a hard life to live as your team's moments of glory are either non existent or extremely short lived as the money teams can just buy success.

Thankfully my one underdog choice in sports is now a powerhouse - the Houston Texans.

I started following the premier league in 1999 and automatically picked the team most likely to beat and torment the gunners (since that was my buddies team) at that time which was Man U. I love the sport but I get a chance to cheer for a "have" team and I get that the playing field is tilted. I am not going to sit here and defend the big spending clubs but at least when I started cheering for Man U allot of their talent came through their development system.

I agree club soccer in Europe is like the NHL use to be in the early to late 1990's. No matter how good the Jets were you new sooner or later the big budget clubs would be purchasing our talent. I was not a fan of that existence.
