I think Roy will thrive with the Blues. Good signing.

Surprised he didn't hold out for longer term.

Oh ****. This is good news. I wonder what this does for signing Stewart though. I'd hate to lose out on him. I was really wanting to see Stewart on win with a solid center for a change.

Anyone with any insight as to why he may be a 1-year guy? (Also, why the particular mention about having to pass his physical still?)

Blues should be an interesting team to watch. A little under 8 million in cap space, a ton of contracts signed, and two prominent RFAs.

Nice getting him on a one year deal. Blues got depth and need a playmaker up front.

Ya same. He hasn't played at the same level after his knee injury. Maybe teams are worried about giving him a long term contract.

Makes a lot of sense. I'm happy that it takes away one of our biggest competitors for Grabo.

Might just be one year to see how it works for him, or maybe both sides want to see how it goes before committing to more time.
The Blues are going to be tight on the cap with this, so hopefully this leaves room for Pietrangelo (who we obviously won't let go) and Stewart (who i will be sad to see us leave, with a better center finally in the mix)

St. Louis gets a center. Low risk 1-year contract. Nice move.

Some body has to be traded. I'd think either Halak or Perron, both of whom have contracts nearly as large as Roy's. I'd be leaning more towards Halak, though, as he only has 1 year left.

Well, they needed a center and got one. It'll be interesting to see what Piet and Stewart though. Not sure if they have the money for both of them.

Still, no risk contracts are always good.

Getting him on a 1yr deal is great value. Did not think he would take that anywhere. The 4m cap-hit is just icing.

I'm guessing injuries are why he fell off recently in terms of points?

If he can get back to 60-80 points, this is great!

Schwartz replaced Andy McDonald (and was playing on the 1st line in his stead before McDonald retired). In other words, his play had surpassed McDonalds. They're both wingers.

Signing Roy has nothing to do with that. Its got more to do with bumping Berglund to the 3C or (there's been some noise) to wing.

Roy was okay in Vancouver but dissapeared in the playoffs, though his wingers were not offensive juggernauts.

The problem is finding a fit.

But good contract.
