Gortz is probably being loaned back to the SHL and Frolunda. He looked really good in the final stages of last season, could break 20 goals if he keeps it up.

so, will this be military service like Elvis had, where they just play hockey in the military until their time is done, or will they miss any playing time because of this?

To anyone interested, I saw from a snippet in the paper that Cinci is in the ECHL’s Kelly Cup Finals against Alaska right now. I think they're down 2-1.

Hutton signed for two years.

I'm not sure how I feel about this.

Fernholm was not signed, and is no longer Nashville property.

Disappointing, he was pegged as a potential Ekholm-type steal after being drafted, just never seemed to come together.

It's a shame, he looked so good in limited action in the SHL in '12-13. Injuries destroyed him in '13-14.

It makes me think that Darling is out. Nasty way to deal with a guy that stepped up a league and had 6 shutouts in 26 games played, second in the AHL. He also had a GAA of 2.00. Hutton sucked at the beginning of the injury to Rinne. In the short term it is probably the right move. In the long run, this could bite the Preds in the butt.

I dont think Darling was even a Predator signing. Im pretty sure he was just signed by the Admirals. And with Rinne, Hutton, Mazanec, and Hellberg all under contract and Saros in the pipeline, there was just no room for another goalie on an NHL contract.

I think he did get an invite to training camp though because I do remember seeing him here in Nashville last September when I went down to watch.

That's one less contract to worry about.

And he becomes the next Ken Dryden. That would be the Preds luck.

Seriously, what if Hellberg and/or Pekka don't regain their previous forms?

I have no real confidence in Hutton at the NHL level. I think that Maz is just as good as Hutton is right now, but I am not Poile.

Hellberg not regaining his form isn't a problem. if Pekka doesn't regain his for we are screwed until someone else(Maz, Saros, Hutton) steps up and plays like a #1

Mazanec softens the blow of Hellberg continuing to spiral(though not of taking a goalie rated in the late second\early third over a guy many had in the late first in Brandon Saad), but ultimately it looks like Juuse Saros is the "next one," regardless.

Did you guys see Pekka in the Worlds? He was back to his true form, no doubt in my mind he will have a great season next year. I know he will be training hard to get back, and as for Hellberg, he was injured all of last season and is still young. Don't rule him out at all.

At the end of the day I think Saros will come out on top but Maz and Hellberg will still push for NHL ice time

I think you are correct I was just addressing the "what if" scenario

The second this week. Are the Dmen in the pipeline jumping ship because Trotz and his reputation for developing defensemen is gone?

Were they worried they might be traded this summer?

I'm sure it has nothing to do with Trotz leaving. Jarvinen is 25 and has no spot on the Preds, not even as a 7th D-man. He most likely went for the money and I don't blame him at all.

The only other guy that left that I know of was Rask and he was a forward, way way down on our depth chart. In the end, neither player leaving affects the Preds at all.
