Not much of a surprise.

Hopefully Ratner wins. Just in case.

It would be strange having Dolan own the NVMC 2.0

I honestly don't know who Mangano will pick.

Cablevision is based in Bethpage, so giving it to the MSG developers makes sense. Their proposal also gives the new arena the most seats, which I think is very important. On the other hand, I cringe when I think of the Dolans owning and running the new Coliseum!

If Mangano gives it to Ratner, I could see the Islanders trying to still have a relationship with the fans in Nassau and Suffolk. Personally, I feel that if Ratner was able to get our team to Brooklyn, why would Nassau want to give anything to Ratner?

Thanks Wang, Mangano, and Murray for making this situation beyond confusing!

I think the obvious choice for fans is Ratner for the following reasons

1. MSG at our home is unacceptable under any circumstances. It's bad enough that we have to play on their network and their paper is the only one that extensively covers us. But to take over our historic home....I would never want to see that.
2. I really and truly believe Ratner getting the arena leaves the door open just a crack for future changes...

I think there are by coincidence two Ratners and they are not related. I may be wrong but there was a FOX interview with the Ratner doing the NVMC proposal and they pointed out he was not related to the Brooklyn owners.

There are no Ratners, there is Bruce Ratner. Its the same guy.

Nassau Coliseum on Thursday unveiled four plans for the renovation of the 41-year-old Nassau Coliseum and one of them came from the team that built Barclays Center. In both a written proposal and a promotional video, the echoes of Barclays Center successes were noted. On top of that, Bruce Ratner, Brett Yormark and Jay-Z went to Long Island for the presentation. The competition includes Madison Square Garden
Also the same architecture firm (SHoP) that designed the Barclays (at least the facade) is the same firm who is own the renderings for the renovated colli from B.Ratner.

To create the impression that a lot of thought went into the decision.

There ARE 2 Ratners, unrelated. Bruce Ratner is Brooklyn, nets, islanders ext. Hank Ratner is part of the MSG team, not related to Bruce. Yes, an ironic coincidence.

There are also two Yormarks, one with us and one with the Panthers, and they are brothers.

MSG would put The AHL Whale right on Long Island, furher obliterating The Islander Long Island Legacy.

I know right? We're lucky our local politicians are totally known for making smart speedy decisions.

I think they've been saying around the end of the summer for a decision to come down.

Um.. no. Islander fans should love the fact they play on MSG. It's one of the biggest reasons—if not the biggest reason—the team hasn't moved out of the NYC area.

Timing is great though.....we'll have still not played a game in the 2/3 viable horse shoe on live TV yet, unable to prove we need a real arena, not a very nice mistake. The plans will be weighed, the winner picked and the new Coliseum will be to small, so....we won't have any option but to stay if Brooklyn is horrible even if Ratner gets the win.

If Dolan gets the win, we moved away from our fanbase epicenter and Dolan sweeps in. Dolan markets well, we have to fight for the next generation of LI kids to pick the Isles.

So we better friggen start winning more. And not stop.

The timing was perfect a decade ago to build the arena. We had a meat popsicle owner screw that up and Nassau's small bus government screwed it up even more.

I sincerely hope both parties acknowledge there might be a need for an NHL team to play there...aside from our several games a year. I just hope they delay the bid until after our first exhibition game to see if fans think the empty end horse shoe thing is a no-go.

This. It'd be nice if Sports Channel survived, but MSG pays the bills.

The Islanders could be on SNY if they wanted to stick it to Dolan and the Rags.

The Devils were originally going to be on YES when Steinbrenner owned them.

As a Nets fan from Brooklyn, I'm rooting for Ratner to win.

MSG would probably prefer the Islanders go to SNY so they wouldn't have to pay that outrageous fee.

Corruption takes a long time. Making sure everybody who needs money sent to an offshore account or a political action committee along with placing relatives in "consulting" jobs takes time, especially when nobody wants to get caught.

Long Island was created by a glacier, so that's appropriate. All the junk that the glacier pushed was left in a straight line when the glacier receded, kind of like dirt left by a broom. Most of that junk is now LI, and the rest of the junk holds various political offices on LI.
