He's had a solid game. Could be a solid late first round pick.

Reinhart looks so good. So smart, so skilled and brings a lot more than offense.

EDIT - Right as I'm typing this he scores to tie it..

Can't be worse than what we have in net currently! Maybe we can hire it as our goalie coach.

Reinhart and Ekblad to me were a cut above the rest in this singular game (small sample of course) imo. Draisaitl even play?

Really liked Ekblad. I'm good with either of these 2 but Ekblad preferred simply on necessity.

Only watched the 3rd but wow, what a pace. Reinhart, Ekblad, Scherbak impressed me the most. Hardly noticed Draisaitl.. was he unnoticeable the whole game or just the 3rd?

Ritchie looks like an absolute tank too. Really too bad Bennett couldn't play..

That Reinhart-Goldobin combo was just magical. They created something almost every shift together.

Before the game I was for the most part Ekblad or bust, but I wouldn't have any qualms with getting Reinhart, or even Dal Colle for that matter.

-MacDonald busy but looking solid.

-Honka with a brutal giveaway

-Ritchie is definitely noticeable with his size on the forecheck. So is Perlini.

-McCann using his sick hands

-Ehlers with a nifty move but can't take the pass on the give and go.

-Middleton fights Hayden. I guess he wants to prove how tough he is. Hayden does well but barely loses.

-DeAngelo really smooth skater but don't see his antics working in the NHL.

-De Leo and Ho Sang both showing some flash. I thought Ho Sang should have had one.

-Fabbri solid but small

-Goldobin and Sherbak probably the two best forwards in the first. Well outside Reinhart who should have had a goal.

-Ekblad great at keepin the puck in and isn't afraid to jump up in the rush.

-Clarke with a beauty on the powerplay but otherwise pretty meh.

-Dal Colle hits the post on one end and Ho Sang finally gets one the other way.

-Virtanen with a stick penalty. Overall been underwhelming and sloppy.

-Goldobin continues to impress with a slick goal. He is finally rewarded.

-Fleury definitely has potential. He's a big smooth skating defenceman but still has some learning to do. Probably Cherrys best defenceman.

-Martin impressing me. Always seems to be in the right place and making solid passes all night. Just did a good job jumping up into the play. Having a rough 3rd period though. Not sure what to think of him.

-Ritchie and McCann both impressing me but haven't really produced anything.

-Goldobin beats the goaltender but can't beat the post on the penalty shot. Sure has speed breaking down the wing.

-Ehlers has some serious speed and a great shot but hasn't really produced.

-Barbashev hits the post and has played physical. Really solid player.

-Reinhart and Goldobin are magic together. Great powerplay goal. Goldobin draws the penalty with his speed and calm play.

-Draisaitl makes a great play to get the puck but Elblad bobbles it at the blueline. Sherbak gets a breakaway from it but hits the post.

-Ekblad redeems himself with a great breakout pass to McCann but hits the post.

-Finally McCann gets one from Ho Sang.
Here is my post from earlier with my notes from the game.

Unnoticeable for the large majority of the game. Not bad though, just not dominant in any meaningful way.

Overall my favorites are for the whole game were:

1. Ekblad
2. Reinhart
3. Goldobin
4. Dal Colle
5. Ho-Sang
6. Barbashev
7. Lemeiux
8. McDonald
9. Edmonds
10. Virtanen
Ek is first only because I like him for the Oilers more but imo him and Reinhart are both 1.

I hope Buffadohs GM likes what Reinhart brought and doesn't pick Ekblad if they out tank us.

Who I noticed: Ekblad, Reinhart, Dal Colle, Glodobin, and Lemeuix
Glodobin's scouting report sounds like Yak 2.0. Also plays for Sarnia, from russia, and is RW haha

I was at the Prospects Game and I don't want to provide too much in-game analysis (really liked Reinhart, the Russians but not so much Ekblad) but I did see MacT during and after his Sportsnet segment and I wanted to comment on how impressed I was with his interactions with the public.

He was genuinely engaged and interested in fans who approached him, took endless pictures and didn't shy away from anyone who approached him. I also saw him chat with Chase for quite some time, so it was good to see him make time for prospects in the organization who were there.

I know people reference the argument with one fan in Edmonton, but I think it's important to point out the positive and pat these guys on the back when they do things the right way.

Fantastic game. The speed and skill level of these kids is impressive. Saw MacT at end of his interview and asked him to get us out of the darkness. He laughed at that. Some impressions:

Ho-Song's skill level, skating, high hockey IQ, great set of mitts and always around the puck. All elite. Watching his puck handling in warm up was sick. Another smurf. Tailor made for an all star type game but really fun to watch.

Brendan Lemieux was aggressive, agitating, tenacious, every shift up afraid to go into the greasy areas and had Middleton and other opposition players after him all night. Clone of his Dad's game and exactly what is missing on the Oil.

Dal Colle is going to be a formidable player when physically mature. Big frame with lots of room to add meat. Very good board play and showed a terrific shot on his goal. Bullet top shelf where Daddy keeps the porno. Impressed me a lot.

Virtanen I have the pleasure of watching consistently as a Hitmen season ticket holder. He looked very average for a period or so with poor defensive play but woke up big time in third. Hammered a shot of the post, physically dominated and carried the play virtually singlehandedly on more than one shift. Elite shot, strong skating, and can bang. I'm a big fan.

Fleury looked really good with size, solid puck moving, and physical play. I haven't seen Red Deer this year but in this game which can be challenging for dman to shine this kid looks to have a very solid toolkit.

I wanted to see more from Ritchie. Watching warm up he showed a very heavy shot and is a big, solid guy. He seemed to disappear in the game but should his physical strength and some surliness at end of game trying to tie it up. This carried over briefly after the game ended.

Ekblad played a very simple game. Showed great decision making several times keeping pucks in at the offensive blueline. Calm, composed, and imposing big. That said, I did not see a physical element in his game tonight and don't sense he is a meat eater type aggressive player. He plays slightly hunched over. Fantastic puck moving and hard, crisp passes and ability to calmly move the puck out of the defensive zone.

Draisaitl looked okay but I wasn't overwhelmed by his play tonight. But a big body down the middle of the ice is always a valued commodity.

Maybe it's just me, but this guy at 17 looks like more of a man than just about everyone on our team.

I think Reinhart was able to really shine in that prospects game. Ekblad dropping down the scouting ranks a bit is awesome. I really doubt we end up with a worse record than Buffalo. Taking Ekblad #2 or #3 is perfect. Don't need another guy trying to live up to #1 overall hype on our team. He can just figure out his NHL game and get worked in slowly.

Good on you, man. In spite of all the awful, horrific coverage the management in general receives they continue (MacT in particular, I really appreciate) to be approachable and decent. He is a smart hockey mind, and despite the *****ing about a 4th liner making 1.85 million per season (when the team is nowhere near the cap, nevermind the need for a guy in that role or the fact that the cap is rising anyways) he's done alright by me at least. Good to know, thanks alot for sharing

Fantastic report, thanks BEL. You didn't mention your impressions of Reinhart? At the WJC he was pretty impressive, but again -- smaller, slight, highly skilled with a high hockey IQ. He seems to be a duplication of what we already have spades of. Draisaitl's stock has dropped for me, just didn't like what I saw at the WJC nor at this game. I like Virtanen alot as well, but I think picking him in the top 5 would be a stretch. Dal Colle seems intriguing but a bit slow? I sure wish that Sam Bennett kid wasn't injured, would have been interesting to see what he brought (a very good skater, gritty, lacks the higher end skill of some of the other top guys but plays a full game).
