Berube, Voracek and accountability

Seems Berube really has a short leash on Voracek....second public pronouncement by Berube suggesting he wants him to work harder. Earlier he called Voracek out for saying McGinn gave him energy.....which Berube said he shouldn't have to get from a rookie...

Quote:
Jakub Voracek was given a maintenance day off the ice on Friday. He played just 14:03 against Buffalo. His ice time was down over three minutes from his average.

That’s because Voracek played five shifts and less than four minutes in the third period. Berube said he wasn’t injured which means … he likely was benched.

Speaking in general terms, Berube said he wants his team moving its feet and unless the group is tired, there’s no excuse for that.

Asked whether Voracek was moving his feet, Berube replied, “Go ask him.”

Weird. I did notice that Voracek was missing during the 3rd period. I hope he gets it together.

Maybe I was watching a different game but he seemed like he was playing pretty well last night, and I don't particularly recall him 'not moving his feet'. Also, where was this accountability a few weeks ago.

Voracek definitely needs to use his wheels to be effective.....no excuse when he's coasting out there. Earlier it was because he came into camp not in great shape like last year but I'm sure with the practices Berube has run he should be more conditioned. So basically it's a will power thing with Voracek. He hasn't been bad of late..picked up points but last year after he got in shape he was definitely more explosive than what I've seen this year.

He seems to be picking his spots when to skate like I noted compared to last season from what I can remember. He hasn't been bad just not as good ..so Berube is probably trying to make sure he doesn't regress further.

I think one of the reasons I saw somewhere was that Berube wanted Hall out for faceoffs or something..hence the lesser ice time..not sure. Just a bit curious still...

aren't "maintenance days" usually for guys that are banged up?

he looked like he hurt his hand/wrist on tuesday....maybe that has something to do with it?

Yeah but it could also be used to hide the fact he is a bit in the doghouse. I guess we'll see. I don't think it's a big deal but there probably is a bit of accountability going on....

In his post game, Berube said he was shifting multiple centers because of all the stoppages. Sure looked like it as well. This could be just Tim P. making something out of nothing.

The guy had 6 points in the previous 5 games heading into last night, and has been a big reason for the current turn around. If we want to talk about accountability... why isn't Streit getting benched? His turnovers have been brutal over the last ten games.

He is a younger version of Ville Leino, I would not be upset if we trade him

No way not possible

Berube's response though is curious but maybe it's Berube's way of saying cut out the intrigue and go ask him yourself....open kimono kind of thing.

Earlier in the season though he definitely pinged Voracek and it was more legit

Yeah he's kind of like Leino, if Leino was a way better hockey player.

True..but we kind of have little option with Streit....he still a decent PMD. Also Berube is pairing up stay at homes with PMD's now and it's working out pretty well even with Streit being turnover prone similar to Carle...

This a bit much

They are not really similar in a lot of respects including defensively. Voracek when he has his wheels is really an impact player out there. He can breakout ...Leino was turnover prone..particularly in his second season.

I read it as sarcasm... Leino is a terrible skater, voracek is easily best on the team.

Nothing to see here, move along.

Voracek has looked better as of late, but he's obviously in the Berube's doghouse. He didn't look very good against the Sabres.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it looked like Jake was taken off the 1st unit PP as well and replaced with Vinny?

I'm wondering if Voracek's got some wrist troubles going on. He got whacked really good vs. Buffalo, and for the next 2 periods, everytime they showed him on the bench his gloves were off, and he seemed to be wincing while rolling his wrists around.
