I'm kind of hoping for Chris Kelly trade right about now. We need more C depth..

Love to sign a 3rd line LW and trade Hemsky for a decent 3rd line C (Chris Kelly)?

Latendresse, Penner, Boyes, Morrow all would do from F/A and probably more.

Hall-RNH-Eberle
Perron-Gagner-Yakupov
F/A-Kelly-Jones
Joensuu-Gordon-Brown

If we could somehow get any good 3rd line C with some offensive capabilities for Hemsky we would be laughing.

Can you trade a player that you are about to go to arbitration with? I expect that you wouldn't be able too..

We have to trade Gagner/Hemsky for size now. It's not even an option anymore.

Just saw the deal....I love Paajarvi, and our depth still looks like crap, so I'm not in total favor.

Hall-RNH-Eberle
Perron-Gagner-Yakupov

that part seems okay, but

Smyth-Gordon-Hemsky
Joensuu-Lander-Jones

Looks like an awful mess.

What's your thought about getting size from FA instead? Gagner doesn't necessarily need to go, I think, unless there is something like Couturier coming back or if it's for a big player and the Oilers already have Grabovski to play centre.

There's still Antropov and at 6'6 he'd provide size as a bottom 6 centre who could probably still play 2nd line minutes in a bind. Maybe the Oilers should give him a call and see what he'd want for a 1yr deal?

If you listen to Mact, he sounds like he's pretty much done with the UFA market, doubt they sign anyone going forward.

Top 6 looks awesome now, but they absolutely must bring in some toughness for the third line. Clifford would be perfect. Someone who can move up and ride shotgun with the kids if a game is getting out of hand.

Watched Antropov in WPG lots this year... Horrible. Doesn't play big, and is painfully slow to watch. Veeeeery slow. Decent hands somehow, but not enough to change my mind. Better options are to be had IMO

Hemsky for Nick Spaling.

Something not that big for Chris Kelly.

Hall-RNH-Eberle
Perron-Gagner-Yakupov
Jones-Gordon-Kelly
Smyth-Spaling-Joensuu
Brown

Would LOVE Clifford, but what would it take to get him? LA needs more offense, but would something around Hemsky + for Clifford work?

Hemsky should be traded for third line size, but not to a team in the division.

Clifford would obviously fill a need, but don't give a divisional rival the better player. Especially when that rival badly needs offensive talent.

On Hemsky?

I don't think he has all that much value. Heck even Stauf was saying his return would be less than Horc's.

I also don't think Hemsky offers much.

So I'm not sure who you'd move him too exactly, but I would look to move Gagner right now and bring in Grabovski. The return would likely be pretty solid and you would upgrade the speed in the top-6.

Maybe a larger deal with Columbus, if they're interested.

To CLB: Gagner, N Schultz(Retaining $1M) and Hemsky(Retaining $2M)

To EDM: Dubinsky and Johnson

then Sign Grabovski, and that team looks alot better, imo.

Hall - Nuge - Yakupov
Perron - Grabovski - Eberle
Dubinsky - Gordon - Jones
Joensuu - Lander - Brown
Smyth

Johnson - Petry
Ference - Schultz
Smid - Belov
Potter, Klefbom

Dubnyk
Labarabra

That's a part-time 4th line center, that's pretty absurdly low.

We look worse then last year? Really we have a defence that won't include Whitney the one legged wonder or Corey can't play potter. Right there that like 10 less goal against

This is one of the few third line proposals that I actually like.

Why? It'd be a legitimate shut down option. Penner has good boardplay, stickwork, positioning and defensive awareness and Cleary is capable in all zones and smart. If you're going to have Gordon on your team, you take advantage of the fact that he's fantastic defensively and on the draw.

Putting Gordon with fourth line plugs that aren't capable defensively is a complete waste of his talents because all that happens is that the fourth line doesn't bleed against the other team's crummy players. You use Gordon to create a shutdown line.

Target people like UFA's like Penner and Cleary or signed players like Greening, Kulemin or J Ward.

If we had a third line of Morrow-Gordon-Cleary, I'd actually really like our chances for playoffs.

It's a lot better than Smyth-Gordon-Jones (or Hemsky, I guess)

Penner-Gordon-Cleary would be interesting as well.

We have a terrible third line, which is going to be the death of us when it comes to playoffs. Our team is basically 9th place right now, back to where we were in 07-08 but with younger guys.
