You don't have to question LaRose's commitment.

That line was effective for PHX.....the Coyotes are looking for offense so Hemsky makes sense for them
I'm pretty sure that unless the Oil eat at least half of Hemsky's absurd salary, there won't be any NHL owner or GM dumb enough to trade anything like a decent pick or roster player for him... That includes OTT and PHX's new owners..

True, just look at Shawn Horcoff.

I think Penner works great as a 3rd line winger who can step up into the top six with injuries. He's big, he can stand in front on the PP, he's great in the dressing room.

He has his flaws, but I'm taking two cup winner big Penner over small one cup winner Chad LaRose, 10/10 times.

We might have to eat half of Hemskys salary but I figured after Horcoff was moved useless comments like yours stating "never happen" when nobody has a fricken clue how GMs value these guys would stop.

He's not that, or he wouldn't spend parts of the season as a healthy scratch, again, don't mythologize him, he's a big, skilled, but lazy part-time hockey players.

Chad Larose is sub-NHL.

It doesn't matter if he shows up, he should be showing up to an AHL team.

i'd eat 100% of Hemsky's cap if it was possible in exchange for something really useful. we aren't going to need cap space this year, and 2,5 mil vs 5 mil is a world of difference to high-spending teams. even a year of a player that is capable of grabbing 50 pts @2,5 mil is a bargain. i'm sure that we could get a nice developed prospect for this.

So he's a RW version of Ryan Smyth, yes we likely don't need that guy, but there are other UFAs to get besides the Big Part-timer.

There's no spot for Penner here, now.

He wasn't a great fit at 2LW, but he's definitely not a fit at 3LW.

That much I can agree with.

What if we kept Hemsky and signed Jagr + 1 of Antropov or Mueller?

Hall RNH Eberle
Perron Gagner Yakupov
Hemsky Antropov Jagr
Smyth Gordon Jones
Brown

You know we probably aren't going to come out of this off-season filling every hole and having the ideal roster, but I have a hard time looking at that and not seeing a fairly substantial upgrade even if the back end didn't load up as much.

Ference and Belov are still probable upgrades on Whitney and Potter.

It kind of goes against every single thing they've wanted for a third line, and Jagr/Antropov would be among the slowest duos in NHL history. Poor Hemsky has to play out of position and wait twenty minutes for them to catch up on the rush.

I dislike Jagr as an option because he doesn't give a **** half the time.

If we could just add Cleary to this team.. ugh would solve so many issues! He is 6' 205lbs speedy, can chip in on offense, and is a warrior! Wouldn't feel bad sliding him into the top 6 for a few games either.. He had 26 goals 2 years ago.. Would be the perfect LW for us. Even if we don't move Hemsky.

Hall - Gagner - Eberle
Perron - RNH - Yakupov
Cleary - Gordon - Hemsky
Eager/Smyth - Lander - Jones/Jonesuu

BTW I'm kind of thinking that arbitration could mean the end of Sam Gagner as an Oiler.

If he gets a one year deal, he's a UFA next year. The Oilers can't risk that.

"Useless" comments eh?? The Oilers got back exactly ZILCH in the Horcoff deal... ZERO. all that trade did successfully was save their LOADED owner a few bucks...

What is useless is the trade proposals where Hemsky brings back a solid roster player or "2nd Rnd pick" with no mention of eating huge salary... THAT is useless. It's called reality when a guy has been on the block for ages with no bites...

The question I have about Penner is why hasn't he been signed by another team yet? He's Bryan Murray's boy and Ottawa, has no interest in him. Virtually " every team" could use a massive winger, but he remains unsigned.

Arbitration rarely goes to a decision though. Very likely they'll decide before it occurs.

I was thinking the same thing, if they can't reach a deal before arbitration we could see Gagner moved, I wonder what kind of value he would have on the trade market?

This Gagner thing is yet another situation that Tambo botched. He should have been locked up to multiple years last summer.

You are talking about "reality" on a fantasy message board. That is beyond hilarious.

Yeah, but it causes bad blood. It is a sign that Gagner is asking for 5-6 instead of 4-4.5 to me. He isn't giving anything.

I say trade him.

I would do that package for Bogo or Buff (but they'd have to add a little). And yes I think Sam is probably being unreasonable with his contract demands. Move him.
