That goal Horak scored against Vancouver was a beauty. He's got some upside.

He will make the team. He's more than a PPG player in the AHL, good PK guy. At the very least he's a competent 4th liner in the NHL. It's not like the Oilers have an abundance of quality bottom 6 forwards either (Smyth, Jones will be gone, which pretty much leaves Gordon, Hendricks, and Gazdic as the only available bottom 6-ers. I'd say unless Lander completely bombs in the pre-season, he's a lock to make it to the 23 men roster on the opening night. Pitlick might make it too.

Here are is the information from the article that is related to Edmonton:
Here in Fort Mac there has been tons of talk in the last year about the new rink here being built for the purpose of AHL hockey. And just the way people have been talking around here makes it sound like it's gone to at least the early discussion part of the whole thing.

As if Edmonton isn't a bad enough location for attracting NHLers we are going to send our developing and struggling teamates to Ft. Mac?

Rough

That said some of the positives are easier call ups, more integrated training... I'm sure there is more.

Hopefully the heat move to fort mac and not the barons. Nobody would want to play there.. There's a reason people get paid a premium to work there.

So glad the barons clinched a spot, it'll be nice to have a team I can cheer for in the playoffs.

OKC isn't much of a hockey market & they will never avg. more than around 4,000/game but that's one thing it has going for it is it's an excellent city and a great place to live. I don't think players lie when they say they enjoy their time here even if the attendance is well subpar.

If anything comes of barons moving I think it will be to Bakersfield. I think that's real reason why Oilers bought the Condors is plans of moving AHL team there. Bakersfield isn't exactly the best place to be either from what I hear but they are very creative to attract fans in that area, also probably helps Condors are likely the biggest hit in town and highest level of sport team they have most likely.

They will be the most pampered team corporate wise in the entire AHL as well probably. The baseball team that is supposed to be coming here next year is playing in a division with teams from California and Hawaii, but Shell is spotting them a jet. I'm sure Syncrude or Suncor would be more then happy to do the same for an AHL team that will constantly sell out here.

Fort Mac isn't really as bad as people make it out to be. We actually have a lower overall crime rate then most places (although we do have a higher DUI and drug related crime rate then most), and not to mention a VERY passionate Oilers fan base. I know about 20 companies up here that I know of, and 10 people I know personally who have Oilers season tickets. Seriously, where else in the NHL is there teams that have that kind of support from a city that is 500 km's away? Not to mention, maybe being in a city that is a working city might rub off on the players and either make them work hard because it rubs off on them, or because they want out, either works as far as giving them motivation to develop their games.

Curtis Hamilton ties it up late .....is it just me or does it seem he gets a lot of late 3rd period goals to tie or take the lead for the Barons

I just looked at the boxscore did we seriously put MacIntyre in the shootout? I know we already clinched, but wow

hopefully the 3rd period success can find a way to infiltrate the Oilers line-up

MacIntyre was starting defense, captain, and first shooter in the shootout.

On the night his scorecard looks as such:

3 embarrassingly bad missed hits
2 teammates injured (one by said missed hit, one by puck in the back of the neck)
1 slapshot taken during shootout

He was first star.

Classy move by Nelson playing all the kids, Jones brothers on the same line and giving Mac a final hoo-ra. Sounds like Tuohiima played well also.

Did it all to the best of his ability and with a smile on his face. I digged that cowboy hat he sported during interview. Guy is a character with greatest attitude I've ever seen so he deserves it. Glad they made it a night for him to remember. He's retiring after the playoffs.

Yep. Klefbom, Lander, Acton, Horak and Pinnizotto were sent down. Marincin is going to the WC I think.

I hope so too, but we are up against the top team in the AHL (based on points), so it should be tough sledding, especially considering all the rookies we have. The sooner Arcobello is back, the better I like our chances, I don't think the Lander and Horak duo by itself will be enough to get us to the next round.
