Agreed. McCabe is generally either overrated or underrated around here...and I think he falls somewhere in the middle. He's not terrific, but he's not awful either. He's good. That said...I'd rather stay the course with Kimmo and Eaton playing big minutes, Hamhuis shouldering more responsibility...and maybe squeezing Suter in to see how NHL ready he is...and KEEP Erat, who I think is about 2 years away from being the Preds best sniper. A full season...playing the kind of icetime he got this year...I'd be shocked if he's not in the 25-28 goal range. We can't afford to give that up for something we're pretty well stocked on, fair value or not.

Yes. preferably a number 1 or 2 that is ready pretty much now, rather than a prospect. By far, our most glaring organizational need.

Too much NHL 2K5. I always spend more time dealing guys than playing. Kinda easy to make a dynasty in that game. A bit harder in real life.

The guy has two really good years under his belt and about 8 mediocre years. As much as we'd have cap room to work with, I'm not sure it's worth the risk considering it still leaves our biggest need unaddressed. The millions spent on McCabe would probably mean we wouldn't be able to address the need for a center.
Like the one two years ago that was closer to how he played the year before. 2 of his 3 full seasons with the leafs were extremely solid years, the most recent more than the last. It doesn't excuse his play in 2002/2003, but playing with Jyrki Lumme for most of the year did not help.

Actually, it's 2 of his 4 full seasons in TO where he was extremely solid. In the other two years, he wasn't nearly as good. Now it is encouraging that 2 of his past 3 years he's been a really good defenseman. But only 2 of his 9 NHL seasons has he been a good NHL defenseman.
