Sens Board Forward Rankings 2013 (9th)

Rank the Sens best forwards

Knowing the priority for forwards should be to score goals, who would be our best option? Who is likely to produce the most points this season considering everyone is healthy? Which forward should earn the most ice-time? That's why you have to consider young guys who aren't regular NHL players yet. This is hypothetical, who you think would produce the most if given equal ice-time and opportunity?

I'm not saying don't take all the intangibles in consideration but the biggest factor has to be offense and how they could contribute. If you have 2 guys that you think are about of the same caliber offensively, then you look at all their "overall game"...

The ultimate point of those polls would be to make a list of Sens forwards in importance if you were speaking to a fan of another team (not a hardcore fan who knows all NHL players)

I know the 3 forward positions are mixed up in this poll but the depth chart in our view will still be decided by the results...

Sens Board Forward Rankings 2013 :

1. Jason Spezza C 79.10%
2. Bobby Ryan W 83.78%
3. Kyle Turris C 51.43%
4. Milan Michalek W 40.95%
5. Clarke MacArthur W 50.72%
5. Mika Zibanejad C 49.28%
7. Cory Conacher W 49.35%
8. Colin Greening W 41.67%

Went with Pageau.

He's unproven as hell, but Smith is pretty frustrating offensively.

It has to be Pageau at this point, I mean he is the only guy left here ever had a hat trick in a NHL Playoff game.

Vote Pageau. Smith could easily surpass him in points if ever finds a way to get over his terrible offensive run, until he does I'm going to pick other guys over him.

Nope. That would influence my voting, but not much. I suppose I should read the whole OP before casting my ballot. Misleading title though

Offensively, quite the gap between Pageau and the others. IMO

I'm in the same boat, voted Neil but thought it was just best forward, not best scoring forward .

Now that Pageau will win this round, I'm curious to see what happens next...

I think Stone and Da Costa should be voted above others. But maybe a lot of people won't read the OP or just the poll question, lol

You really think Neil (at this point in his career) would outscore Greening and earn more minutes than him if given the opportunity to do so?

I know that poll is very ambiguous, but it's not based on experience and contracts but more on pure offensive ability

Yeah, but I used the generic rankings title, same as the prospects one. Didn't want to use a 2 lines title

Ok but what about Mark Stone? No faith in him to produce more points (or close to Pageau) and earn ice-time if give the opportunity? I will ask it another way :

Let's say we have that 3rd line for the full season and they play about the same minutes

Pageau-Zibanejad-Stone

Pageau would automatically outscore Stone? And if they are close in points, which "overall game" would help us the most? (probably Pageau then)

Chris Neil is BY FAR (like earth to moon far) my favorite player on the list of players left (and the most important for the Sens at this point) but while I like him a lot, if I was the coach, I would use some of the other guys over him if I want my team to score goals (which is the priority)

Another poll could have been "who has the most impact on the team?" or "who is the most important forward for the success of the team?" but it's not, I wanted to see who we think are our best offensive weapons

Then why did you put in this line :

"The ultimate point of those polls would be to make a list of Sens forwards in importance if you were speaking to a fan of another team"

Shouldn't we add Lazar to this list? He has about as good a chance as Dziurzynski, Grant or Da Costa (possibly even a few others as well) to make the team out of camp.

I think the fans consensus on lazar is to let him to develop a bit more before he makes the team. We don't want to rush him into a position would we?

Well Bryan Murray said this in a recent article in the Ottawa Sun

Quote:
"(But) we've got a whole bunch of guys that could play there. You don't think (Curtis) Lazar could play right now?"

It might be best to send Lazar back to the WHL, but it seems like the Senators are going to give him a serious look at camp and feel he actually has a good shot of playing this season.

With guys like stone, pageau, hoffman, etc. trying to push for a spot as well, i highly doubt that lazar will make the team next season. Anything is possible i guess, i just do not see it. As you said, it probably is best to just send him back to the whl to allow him to develop more.

I'm just going to ignore this and save me some precious time. I think enough has been said for you to understand

It's just a way trying to predict the scoring ranking among Sens forwards

If you don't like those polls, you're not obligated to open the threads...

Only reason is I only used players who have some NHL experience or are close to make the NHL (Stone, Hoffman, Grant and Pageau)

Didn't want to use more prospects because it's already complicated enough as you can see
