Who are some prospects that were drafted this year that are locks, maybes, and back to juniors.

Jones, drouin, etc.

Thoughts or comments?

Nichuskin is a virtual lock in Dallas.

I feel like the top 4 picks are all locks.

After that I saw really good chance are: Monahan and Nichushkin

Good chance: Domi and Horvat

Long shots: Nurse, Lindholm and Ristolainen.

After that no one else.

Domi and Horvat aren't NHL ready, I'd swap Lindholm with the two

I hope you're right about Horvat, but Torts was quoted just the other day saying:

"I am going to give the kids as long a shot as a I possibly can. I want kids in the lineup. I hope they take other people’s jobs."

I really hope he wasnt referring to Horvat with this comment. I think WJC, Hosting the Memorial Cup and possibly being captain of his junior team would be a more valuable experience.

I'd guess he's referring to guys like Schroeder and Kassian, who would fill really obvious needs in the Canucks roster if they can step up.

99% Lindholm is on the roster opening night, 80% he sticks the whole season.

Probably not but here a wild guess, William Carrier with the Blues will get a 9 games view and back to junior.

Really? I kind of doubt he does, personally. especially with guys like Rattie and Jaskin lying in wait.

Who can predict that anyway, there's always surprise every year and Carrier is physical and has a great shot so why not if he's opening the red light in preseason.

Am I the only poster who thinks that Jones will not be in the NHL after 10 games this season?

Nurse is guaranteed not to make it this year. Besides the 7 defencemen on one way contracts, there is also Justin Schultz, Belov and 3 prospects much closer to the NHL than him. There's no way the oilers waste his elc this year.

Yeah, he'd have to have a godlike performance in camp to stay. There's no spot saved for a rookie this year on the Blues, so any one of those guys will need to beat out someone for a spot.

Domi was impressive at the rookie camp, like really impressive, so he has a shot, not a long shot, but not a lock.

Funny - but realistically I doubt any of them do. Calgary historically does not push prospects.

Monahan has an outside shot, but my guess is no one drafted this season makes the team.

My reasons are as follows. I am not a fan of rushing 18 year old defensemen into the NHL. I think Jones has got a boat load of talent but I also think he could use another year of seasoning. I also think Nashville are a pretty patient organization. I realize Seth is a big athletic kid but in small sample sizes (WJC's and Memorial cup) I thought he looked a touch raw still and another year in juniors would not hurt. I am not saying he would crash and burn in the NHL by any means I am just not convinced it would be in his best interests from a development perspective. I feel it is a bit different for defensive prospects. Who knows maybe he kicks the door down in training camp and they need to keep him on the parent club but on balance I never think it hurts to wait for D men (even the elite ones) to hit 19.

barkov is a lock, why isn't people mentioning him? there's a reason why he's considered the most complete player this draft.
