Watch The Master if you haven't seen it yet. Joaquin Phoenix will startle you.

Was my favourite film of 2012.

edit: also just watched The Inbetweeners for the first time this week. Very funny show, imo. Would recommend checking it out. It is on youtube and Netflix. Just a raunchy British teen comedy show.

a few years back I watched the movie that followed that series. and it was pretty good, funny. and you didn't need to see the show to follow it which was a plus. the MTV version was funny in a raunchy American Pie way. but got canceled so they could show more repeats of teen mom or something

Joaquin and PTA are teaming up again to bring Thomas Pynchon's Inherent Vice to the screen, Wes. I'd imagine that one is close to done being shot / already in post.

I love that show, one of my favorite British comedies along with Misfits (first two seasons) and The IT Crowd.

Yep, very accessible in that sense. I've never seen the American version, but I heard it was no where near as good. Might check it out soon.

Haha, yeah, love it. Can't believe I hadn't heard of it until recently.

I don't know if it would be worth it. MTV really screwed up Skins. I hadn't really watched the british version of the show beforehand just the movie. if they did what they did to Skins I would stay away.
A show MTV did a good job on this year was "Underemployed" the show had real characters with real depth and a story that was really done well. sadly rating weren't great, but it really didn't help when they moved it to Saturdays. as of right now its in purgatory not canceled but not renewed. from what I understand its doing better in Europe. but idrk

"Lords of Salem" is idk exactly how to put it; it is pretty good. There are a couple spots where I jumped, and 1 or 2 spots where I was like the expletive is that. The scenery was very well done and the costumes were about as good as you could ask for. It was a classic horror movie which was cool but the story felt really long and drown out. Which works I suppose for the film. The Music which is done by John 5 (former guitarist of Marilyn Manson, current Rob Zombie lead guitar) does an excellent job of providing an eerie sort of aura around the film.

In all it was pretty good. its hard to do a movie about witch's and have it be great. I suppose it really reminds me of "Rosemary's Baby" with a Rob Zombie twist.

A really old, live clip of early PF, sound quality isn't the best, but it's cool:

Link to studio version, for those interested.

First song I ever heard by PF. It was love at first hearing.

I finally saw Django Unchained and it was balls to the wall entertainment. No other way to put it. Christoph Waltz made the film.

Kind of a somber song but it's been in my head for days. Maybe because the sun won't come out here. Very Cinematic Orchestra vibe.

It's playoff beard time, so I greatly enjoyed this nugget of humor and knowledge from sci-ence.org.

Ever feel like we're not listening to one another?

http://www.scientificamerican.com/ar...tion-attention

Quote:
Ralph Nichols, a professor of rhetoric at the University of Minnesota, had a haunting feeling: His students werenít listening. So he did what any good researcher would do: He studied studentsí listening skills.

It was a simple test. With the help of school teachers in Minnesota, he had teachers stop what they were doing in midclass and ask kids to describe what the teachers were talking about.

You might imagine that wiggly, distracted first-graders had the toughest time with the test. Thatís precisely why you need to read on. Yes, turn off the TV and read on.

Surprisingly, 90 percent of first- and second-graders gave the right answer. But as kids got older, results plummeted. By junior high, only 44 percent answered correctly; about one in four high school kids succeeded. Clearly, they had better things to think about.

The truth is, the older people get, the more their listening comprehension sinks. Making matters worse, studies show that people wildly overestimate how good they are at listening. Now, do I have your attention?
