The Rangers hired a law firm from Toronto to present their case in the salary arbitration hearing two years ago. Miller Thomson attorney Clifford J. Hart.

http://www.millerthomson.com/en/our-...lifford-j-hart

If its the same setup,Hart will write the Rangers brief for the arbitration hearing. He will be there with Jeff Gorton. Hart will present the Rangers argument.

Doubt it reaches arbitration.

Zucc signs a 2 year deal before.

I'm thinking it could be something like this:

2013/14: 1.65
2013/14: 1.85

To clarify, this is not some new facts, but rather a paraphrase from the New York Post. It would more accurately translate to
"New York Post reports that Zucca demands $2 million, $500k more than Rangers are willing to offer."

So the only interesting thing in the article, is that Zucca claims he demands less than $2 million

Glen is low balling harsh then if Zucc is being offered (less than $2M - $500,000). I am guessing Glen is giving him a 2-year $2.6M deal. If they agree on a deal, I can see 2 year $3.0M.

If we're talking between 750k and 1.75m it's pretty obvious that the value isn't really what's holding things up and it's just Stepan's deal.

Zuccarello, who will turn 26 on Sept. 1, received a Qualifying Offer of $735,000. The winger is believed seeking between $1.5M-and-2M, with the Rangers offering considerably less than that. Under a change in the CBA, teams cannot walk away from arbitration awards of under $3.5M.

Zuccarello's European agent is talking again. He said there are no indications the Rangers are looking to trade Zuccarello. The story says Zuccarello could be awarded $1.7M-$2.3M in an award. The agent believes it will get settled before July 31. Ryman said a month ago that Zuccarello would be signed with no worries. From: @MathiasAsk

Mashinter has no leverage. He has until today to accept his qualifying offer or it expires. July 20 this summer because of the lockout. Sather gave Zuccarello leverage. $1.5M is too much money for the Rangers. If it was that easy,Zuccarello would have been signed weeks ago. This is a player who has never played a full NHL season. Ryman doesn't think the Rangers will trade his client but he also thought the contract was essentially done when its not not. Newport handles the talks and not Ryman. The Rangers should look to trade this player. Newport told Zuccarello that other NHL teams are interested in him.

Heard from a bird today that Zuccarello will to 99% sign before his hearing. And that Mashinter accepts his QO today. Stepan is the final stepping stone. No news there...

No, they didn't.

Just because he's not signing right away doesn't mean you trade him.

I understand that you do not like Zooks but no mistake here. A guy who can score 40-50 points in a 1.7 mill contract is an asset. The mistake is having so many fwds that are only good for 5-20 points

IMO there is no way he's going to score 40-50 points. He would have to be a top 6 forward (3rd liners scoring 50 points?)

This is great news. Mods, is BBKers confirmed as reliable?

(I'm not doubting you... well I guess I am I just don't like to get too ahead of myself here, and I'm sorry if you've been a confirmed guy for a while, I probably just missed it).

I will bet you 1 (One) Canadian dollar that Zucc's will go above 50 points if he gets to play the full season without long term injuries or 4th line minutes

He was in pace for over 40 as a rookie playing mostly 3rd line. He was on pace for over 40 last season as well. He has done that while averaging 3rd line minutes per game.

Its not about liking anyone. Play a full NHL season. Just one. He hasn't scored 40-50 points in a single NHL season. 34 points in 67 games over 3 years. Dubinsky(2 years/$1.85M) and Anisimov(2 years/$1.875M) weren't eligible for salary arbitration in their 2nd contract. Dubinsky had 81 points in 2 seasons including 12 in the playoffs. Anisimov had 70 points in 2 seasons. Both of those guys were major contributors to the team. Zuccarello wants their 2nd contract when he doesn't have their numbers because he is arbitration eligible. The Rangers made a mistake.

Philly had to give Dopita a good contract to get him here. Calgary with Cervenka. If you've proven yourself in one of the top European leagues, you've got more leverage where that is concerned.

There's also the Stepan situation with the Rangers having only 3.3M in cap space before any trades/buried contracts, If we give Zucc 1.5-2M, that leaves only 1.8-2M before anything happens for Stepan.. IMO he's going to get at least 3.5

My hope and expectation is that both Step and Zooks get fair contracts. I do not expect the team to carry so many 4th line type players

I hope they award him 3.5 just so NYR can walk.
