I don't know what Smith hopes to accomplish in arbitration or how he plans to accomplish it.
He hopes to stay in Detroit on a short contract so that he can re-sign after he proves himself a little more. How so many people fail to understand this is beyond me.

Smith re-signed 2 years per Elliotte Friedman and therefore avoids arbitration.
