Wiercioch........then about six other guys.....then Stone.
Don't know how its possible to think that low of Stone.
This is a player who after being drafted put up 245 points in two WHL seasons. He stood out amongst his peers at the World Juniors, scoring 7 goals in 6 games. And this past season he led Binghamton in scoring in his first AHL season, going on a PPG pace in his last 30 games after recovering from a rib injury.
It's not like he's a weak and undersized skilled forward, the type that doesn't translate well to the NHL - he's 6'3, 210lbs, a huge kid who is strong around the net and is willing to fight for the puck. He may not be the fastest skater, but it won't stop him from being a top 6 winger. He produces at every level, just a real smart hockey player who should translate very well to the next level.
Basically what I'm saying is he should be on the board right now. He'll leapfrog most, if not all of the prospects on the list soon, especially if he gets placed alongside Spezza.
lol wtf? Who the heck is voting for prospects like Filatov, Grant, Wikstrand or even Hoffman and Driedger? I mean... Wiercioch, Stone, Puempel and Prince are still on board
It would be like I'm voting Petersson because he is a favorite of mine
Can we be serious with these polls? It's our reference when discussing with other team fans... (Which I almost ne et do lol)
And concerning Stone, his skating might be below average at the NHL level but many "slow" players have succeeded in the NHL before because they had great other tools. Heck just think about Spezza when he first came in... Stone's skating could maybe improve along the years
Stone's skating already has improved, not a reach at all to think it will continue to improve.
Crazy that we just moved two of our top prospects from last year's list and we're still seeing guys like Wiercioch down at #7. 6'4" dmen that were on pace for 37 points as a rookie are not even top 5 in our rankings? Spoiled.
There's every reason to believe that Weircioch will be a 40 point dman with good size and we have 6 prospects ranked higher (Pageau probably too high though). What a luxury to have a system like this.
