Taylor Pyatt for...

Jake Dowell

or

Nick Tarnasky

Pyatt has 1 year left with a 1.55 mil cap hit. He's probably not going to produce a whole lot, but he's a big body and he's strong along the boards. He could be helpful for a team looking to add some size to their roster.

Dowell and Tarnasky both have cheaper contracts with 1 year left. They have little value and likely won't be re-signed by their respective teams.

The Wild or Habs get a player that may be of some use for a player with no use, without adding a contract or giving up any picks.

The Rangers save 625k against the cap by burying Dowell/Tarnasky vs Pyatt.

His last contract was 1 year for 550k, which was a reduction from his ELC. I doubt he'll get much.

Postma is waiver exempt next season as well, right?

No. He signed his ELC at age 20. The exemption cutoff is 3 years and 160 NHL games. He has only played 38 games, but has played 4 years as a pro.

You are right.

Still think Postma would fit the bill.

Pyatt is worth a bag of pucks and unfortunately thats about it. He's a big body but he rarely uses it. He has hands of stone and is pretty slow.

I'd take a 7th round pick for any one of Powe, Asham, or Pyatt. Any takers?

Either Benn and a signed 90's Mike Modano Stars jersey and you have a deal.

Jersey or no deal. I'd even throw in the rights to Stepan's jockstrap if you got me Ken Hitchcock's food itinerary from when he was coaching there. He knew all the good eat spots.

I would say he doesn't throw a lot of big hits, but he does use his size scrapping in the corners and cycling. Or at least he did in Phoenix.

Decent bottom 6 forward.

I'm fearing that Pyatt will be kept this year because AV loved him in Vancouver. I'd rather keep Boyle, he actually has some uses on PK and faceoffs. A 6th or 7th round pick for Pyatt, and I consider that deal a win.

Brett Sutter

Taylor Pyatt

Canes could use somebody like Pyatt on their fourth line.

Sutter is essentially NHL-ready and should be a pretty good career fourth-liner at either center or right wing.

Agreed.

Maybe we can be a little generous and say Pyatt for Postma's rights, and if he signs with us on performance/bonus based contract (so min. risk) and delivers, then we'll add a 2015 6th, like that.

Even if he was only chiefly for PP getting 6 min or so, his righty shot could help til better options emerge.

If the #s are reasonable, we can both do a little extra house cleaning.
A package deal, add Burmistrov's rights, and we'll add also.

Powe and Asham were, but that doesn't mean a deal can't be made. A GM may be willing to take one of those players if he can send another player back to even out the contracts.

Oilers could use Pyatt on the bottom six.
