If Brunner would accept a deal like that, he'd have re-signed with Detroit already.

Avs already overloaded on defensemen. Think Roy said he didn't see anymore signings coming. Barring a trade I think the Avs are done outside of negotiating with their current players.

I don't see us signing anyone else from the free agency pool.

Dallas doesn't need anymore centers. Cgy had Boucher once and he played horrible. I think he burned his bridge here. Kuba doesn't fit what the Flames are doing and we have too many Dmen in the system already.

San Jose doesn't need to sign a goaltender. Alex Stalock and Harri Sateri are going to compete for the backup job in camp.

Brunner on the Canucks for that much would be a perfect situation but I don't see it happening unfortunately, we have less space then Detroit so if he wear to go for that Detroit would have signed him by now.

I don't believe the isles have any more roster spots, although they could use both the guys you list. I just don't see more signings as likely.

There are some pretty good names out there still considering the date.

These guys are pretty much all going to be had at discount prices. It's funny how free agency works. Day 1 = severe overpayment for many if not most players.

But with the dropping cap, the secondary/tertiary UFAs who are still leftover? Can probably be had relatively cheap.

The Avalanche have the least talented blue line in memory, they scored a whopping four goals all season from their defensemen and have done nothing to address this. I agree Zidlicky is likely not going there but even though the 'Lanche have a wonderful bunch of forwards this club has zero chance to do anything until the non talented blue line gets fixed.

Kekalainen's stated that basically we're done with pretty much everything except maybe retaining Vinny:

Quote:
Kekalainen, by the way, indicated that his roster is basically set. The only question is whether to bring back veteran Vinny Prospal.

“Are we going to extend him an offer? We’re not sure we want to do that yet,” Kekalainen said. “We want to give him the proper respect if we do — and he may not even want to do it. We always like to keep our options open, but I’d say right now we’ll stand pat unless we make an offer to Vinny.”

They traded O'Byrne, O'Brien, bought out Zanon and waived Hunwick. Improvement by subtraction.

And they added Sarich and Benoit. Not flashy additions, but decent depth guys.

D is probably going to be

Wilson-EJ
Hejda-Barrie
Benoit/Sarich-Elliott

It's not great, but it's much better than what they had last year when Hunwick led the team in ice time.

Rumours are stating that Montreal has talked to Morrow and those went well. His agent expects there will be another talk soon.

REALLY hope we nab Raymond in Winnipeg. I'd be okay with Grabovski here as well for a year or two if Scheifele isn't ready but unfortunately we already have Jokinen.

Vancouver - Damien Brunner (3 yrs 2.5M per)
Winnipeg - Mason Raymond (2 yrs 2.1M per)

What are your guesses ?
I have no clue about years or money, but here ya go:
Jagr- Panthers…provides two things they need…scoring and veteran leadership;
Boyes- Flames…provides some scoring cheaply;
Prospal- Hurricanes…they need a scorer, but with low cap space, and a good number of forward openings, he is a good option;
Brunner- Jets…they need scoring, have some openings at forward, and the money to give him what he wants;
Morrow- Canadiens…they need some toughness and some bottom six scoring;
Selanne- Ducks or retirement…I am leaning towards retirement. I cannot see him on another team than Anaheim;
Raymond- Flames…they need some speed and additional scoring;
Mueller- Capitals…he is cheap, fills a slot, and has some scoring potential for the bottom six;
Gagne- Kings…they have some openings and he can fill a scoring role in the bottom six for cheap;
Cleary- Oilers…they have some openings at forward and need veteran leadership;
Penner- Sabres…they need size and more grit/physicality;
Lydman- Avs…defensively responsible and solid puck mover, he’d be a good fit in their system as a 6th/7th d-man;
Gilbert- Sabres…they only have one offensive defenseman, Gilbert would give them two;
Colaiacovo- Panthers…he is a good 6th d-man for them;
Zidlicky- Red Wings…they need a an experienced offensive defenseman;
Grabovski- Coyotes…they could use some scoring and have some forward openings;
Antropov- KHL… I think the best deal he will be offered will be from a KHL team;

Top 3 goalies:
Bryzgalov- Islanders…They have a major weakness at goalie after Nabokov, who is very near to the end of his career;
Thomas- Unsigned…I cannot see any NHL team sign a 40 year nut case;
Theodore- Unsigned/retire/Europe…I cannot see any NHL club signing him.

True, not arguing they are set quality wise, but even with the buyout of Zanon and the trades of O'Brien and O'Byrne, the acqusitions of Sarich and Benoit leave the Avs with too many Dmen on 1 way deals to get guys like Elliott much time. no room for more FA signings.

I don't see Bryz reuniting with Bob while their salaries basically switch sides (switch from their last mutual stint in 2012)

If they didn't already have too many D on the team, it could work. Would much rather have Hainsey though. If only someone had claimed Hunwick from waivers...

Brunner to Vancouver makes a ton of sense for Gillis. Vancouver needs to build a top line, IMO. Burrows, Kesler, Brunner does seem viable, perhaps more so than if Hansen (VCR's top RW in scoring last season) or Kassian were RW.

Canucks, believe it or not, need a goalie. Also needed are third pairing defensemen and a third line center. Gillis has said he wants a bigger team but has added three middleweights, so there might be some bottom six additions, too.
