I thought Nashville didnt qualify him... Maybe not.

I'm fine with him playing on the fourth line, but if he is on the third, I dont like it. Could O'Dell not play third line?

O'dell is a centre

Halischuk is obviously bottom 6

Ladd Little Wheeler
Kane,Scheifele,Setogucci
??,Jokinen,Frolik
wright,Slater,Halischuk

or who knows really.. maybe they can still buy jokinen out and are thinking about it

hard to say, lots of time here to still make some moves

If he can score 15/15 then this is a solid signing. Perhaps we see him on the third line.

Ladd - Little Wheeler
Kane - Jokinen - Setoguchi
Tangradi - Scheifele - Halischuk
Wright - Slater - Thorburn

With all the depth we now have (), you forgot Frolik.

Ladd - Little - Wheeler
Kane - Jokinen - Setoguchi
Halischuk - Scheifele - Frolik
Wright - Slater - Tangradi/Peluso/Thorburn

switch Jokinen with Scheifele and you got it i think

Dont think Jokinen has the speed to play with those 2 burners there in Kane and Gooch.

TSN lists him as LW/RW, perhaps he can play both?

With Ilya retired, maybe he can stake a claim as the best "chuk" in the NHL!

More importantly, what does Yahoo! and ESPN list him as for fantasy hockey?

Maybe we see a trade or something also

it looks likely

maybe thorburn/stuart to i dunno...

but...

thing you gotta remember is... some teams are over the cap right now..

some teams are very very close

its possible you could see a trade like stuart/thorburn for someone relevant

Liking this lineup a lot more, even though I'm still unsure about Kane/Jokinen/Setoguchi as a 2nd line. Oh well, that third line looks like it could be pretty strong defensively.

I loved this kid as a junior, he plays with a ton of battle but is probably an AHL/NHL tweener at this point. Plays WAY bigger than his size. Had one good year with Nashville but I guess the NHL jury is probably still out given his surgery earlier this year. Bottom line is that this guy busts his A S S every shift, so his commitment is not at all a question. Adds to organizational depth as long as his shoulder holds up.

This has been a very curious off season so far to say the least.

My only theory is that Chevy and co are stocking up to try and create some competition in the bottom half of the roster. Let the cream rise to the top. Waive whoever doesn't make it and if they don't get picked up, you have some great AHL options and good call up possibilities should there be injuries.

There are also question marks with Sheifele, Trouba, Redmond. I don't mind having insurance policies as long as it doesn't prevent us from going for a top 6 forward which is clearly a need.

Makes sense.
Internal competition always is a positive thing.

But you have to be good to bring competition

My guess is that the let Tangradi walk unless he accepts there original offer, I don't think he has shown enough to really deserve to file for arbitration.Halischuk is an upgrade on Tangradi,Thorburn,Wright,Peluso he will slot in nicely on the 3rd line with Frolik on the other side as they both play either LW or RW.My only concern is the shoulder surgery thing it's hard to be a energy guy if u are recovering from surgery hopefully it's a minor thing it may explain why Nashville let him go.

Apparently it doesn't work like that. If a player is awarded < 3.5MM the team must sign him.

This certainly makes sense in theory, they're getting a jump on bottom 6 competition this year by signing some instead of waiting for other teams to waive them

I agree with you but you know Dam well Noel will shove Ollie on the second line for half the year before he realizes that's just stupid.

I fear we could be making a big mistake if we expect Scheifele to produce offensively if we give him some combination of Frolik, Halischuk, Tangradi as his wingers.
