I liked him somewhat when he was with SJS, but never really did enough to take the reigns of a 4th line spot. A classic tweener journeyman.

If you sign enough depth guys, one or two will step up and play way above their pay grade... Right???

Looking back at some prior Ranger threads, sounds like Torts definitely had a hand in this depth signing. He liked Ferrierrlewrlkwerjlk234's game in NYR.

Maybe, but he's played NHL games in each of the last four years so it stands to reason it'll happen again this year.

I'd say more than likely. Doesn't bring anything particularly intriguing at the NHL level. Has never really PK'd, relatively small player, and looks like he pretty much solely plays wing despite being listed as a centre on a couple sites. Has had some success scoring at the AHL level though, so likely depth for Utica.

There are things to like about Ferriero. He's been a good possession player throughout his career and was basically a third liner with San Jose for a few years. From what I remember about him, he plays a fairly tenacious game.

On the other hand, his NHL point totals look inflated by the fact that he's actually gotten a decent amount of ice time through his career - a 20 point per 82 game pace isn't much for a guy who consistently played 10-12 minutes per game at even strength. He also doesn't really add size for a team that seems to want to add size where they can. He also doesn't PK, which limits his usefulness as a fourth liner.

The average height of North American men is popular? No way!

Should be a veteran top-six forward in Utica. Ideally won't see time with the big club, but nice to have NHL experience on hand in the event of injuries.

If I recall correctly, when he first came up with San Jose he played quite well.

Good depth signing. Don't know what they don't see in Matt D'Agostini though.
