The Metal: Pittsburgh Penguins @ Carolina Hurricanes|PNC Arena |7:00 PM

You can't kill the metal
Metal will live on

No one can destroy the metal
The metal will strike you down with a vicious blow
We are the vanquished foes of the metal
We tried to win for why, we do not know

A new foe is attempting to destroy the metal tonight....disco.

Disco Dan and his band of cheese eatin' bad mama jamas from the Steel City have jetted down to Raleigh to try to prove they can still get down after some missteps at their home club in Pittsburgh and on the international stage in Toronto.

Some of Disco Dan's righteous boogie cats

Who will stand in their way and say "NO!" to their question of "Can You Dig It?"

Kirk. The Metal. Muller.

Live, one night only at PNC Arena

Presenting the Midgets of Metal (lines/pairings based on today's practice):

Gerbe - E. "Demon" Staal (C) - Semin

Tlusty - J. "Starchild" Staal (A) - Dwyer

"The Ripper" Ruutu - "Space Ace" Nash - "Sixxteen" Lindholm

"Draysonic" Bowman - "Catman" Sutter - "K-Bone" Westgarth

Sekera - Faulk

Harrison - Murphy

"TFG" Gleason (A) - Hainsey

Justin "Punk Dawg" Peters

Mike "Zombie" Murphy

Pens Boogie Lines:
Kunitz(A) - Crosby (C) - Dupuis
Jokinen - Malkin (A) - D'Agostini
Glass - Sutter - Kobasew
Jeffrey - Vitale - Adams

Orpik - Martin
Niskanen - Letang
Maatta - Bortuzzo/Engelland

Fleury
Zatkoff

Can the Hurricanes put out this disco inferno and stomp a big 'ole metal boot on the Pens boogie shoes? Will the metal retain its righteousness? Tune in tonight and see!

I almost feel like this is a must win game.I know, its early but to me, the Canes can defend well enough where they should be in the game. I want them to stay afloat and not put too much pressure on Khudobin when he comes back.

Canes win 3-2

High-effort game thread.

Let's hope the Canes bring the same tonight.

Is it likely that Justin Peters gets the start tonight?

Yup, like lazyking said...lock. The signings of DiPietro and York indicate just how much faith the organization has in Murphy, especially given some of his comments in the past. I'm pretty sure Murphy is little more than a warm-body in case Peters go down before one of Khudobin or Ward comes back.

Hainsey and Murphy combine for 6 goals, MAF is later seen consulting a shrink.

Disco is dead, but it has returned as a zombie ala Thriller for Halloween to steal our candy and tp our front lawn. Fortunately, I made a trip to Edward McKay's Used Books (& More!) and procured something that just might help us protect this house...

After stopping by Cook Out and getting myself a Cheerwine float (to rot the teeth that the meth didn't), I drove home, locked myself in my basement, opened the book, and immediately flipped to the section about bringing power plays back from the dead. Now all I need is either Chad LaRose or Paul Maurice...

LET'S GET SPOOKY!

Let's hope Muller remembers to tell this to the Hurricanes. That includes telling the forwards to score goals and Peters to stop shots. He forgot to do that the last 2 games.

Awesome GDT!

Will be great to finally watch a Canes game in HD again. Those of us stuck watching on Suddenlink don't get an HD option when the games are on SportSouth.

Holy ****, gp. When you said you'd arrange some pictures in that PM, I had no idea your theme would be so badass.

Thanks for the kind words all. Here's hoping I get better at GIMP so I can really make some of this stuff work better. I'll be at the game - as of late, the team whose jersey I wear loses a Pens-Canes match. I'll be wearing my new Malkin away jersey so I smell a Canes win!

Amen. We have Suddenlink over here in New Bern but don't get Fox Sports South. I've had to stream all these games lately and I feel like a miss a lot of things I'd notice on a bigger, higher quality picture.

Also, I finally get to use this guy in a post, great GDT theme, the pictures of the Pens and Disco Dan are awesome.
