Fastest players in the NHL (uptaded list, plus 10 fastest from each team)

A lot of this has been done thanks to the input from other posters in the other topic... I'd also appreciate if you'd point out any out-of-whack rankings you can see or a player that you think is in the wrong class or something like that...

3) Rob DiMaio
4) Jere Lehtinen
5) Niko Kapanen

Henrik Sedin shouldn't be on that list, Kurtz isn't in the Canucks organization anymore, Morrison and Cooke are faster than Jovo and should be in class A. Reid should be on there if prospects are.

Modano definitely belongs in class one but he's not a faster skater than Koltsov or Chimera...he just handles the puck at full speed like no other player in the league.

They aren't among the fastest players in the NHL, no way do they belong in Class 1, Class 3 at best IMO

Yzerman is the eighth fastest skater? Maybe five years ago. Not now. No way. Is Whitney slower than Yzerman? Or Hudler? Or Williams?

Jovo is in class A. They are faster than him. I believe they belong in Class A as they are the fastest on a fast team.

I still don't think they're among the top ten skaters in the league.

I think this list is very accurate. Just a few comments.

For Florida shouldn't Van Ryn be there maybe at the top?

For Ottawa shouldn't Schastlivy be there also near the top.

I also agree that Modano should be Class 1 at leats the equal of federov and Jovanoski.

I would also think that for SJ Marleau is top and I would put him in Class 1 and Sturm in 2 or 3 but other than the additions of Marleau and Modano I think you have the class 1 accurate.

I am glad someone mentioned Reid he certainly looked just as fast as he did in Juniors.

Very good list. It certainly builds the excitement to see what Koltsov can do.

Yikes! Quite a few players don't belong here. Audette, Ribeiro, and Dagenais all have supbar speed. Dackell and Sundstrom's speed are average. Markov is a fluid skater, not sure if I would call him that fast.

1. Kilger
2. Bulis
3. Dykhuis
4. Zednik
5. Hossa
6. Komisarek
7. Hainsey
8. Koivu
9. Ward (he ain't a pretty skater, but he gets from point A to point B quickly)
10. Markov

That's a rough list. Speed is difficult to guage unless specified what kind of speed. Game-speed? Meaning players that can use their speed in a game, as opposed to the speed a player is capable of going.

For example, Yannic Perreault has won fastest skater competitions, but in game situations he's among the slowest players out there. Donald Brashear won a fastest skater competition, but only because he gets a chance to really get moving... and he doesn't get that chance in a game situation.

Morrison and Cooke are not faster than Jovo. Jovanovski has beaten players like Sami Kapanen and Paul Kariya, and came damn close to beating Sergei Fedorov. He's tall and takes huge strides so he doesn't look like he's going as fast as he does. Morrison is damn fast but doesn't compare to those players listed in Class 1.

it should go somewhat like this

1.) Jovanovski
2.) Morrison
3.) Reid
4.) Cooke
5.) Bertuzzi
6.) Naslund
7.) Linden
8.) Arvedson
9.) Salo
10.) Allen

Havlat is faster than Hossa and I'm sure other Sens fans will agree. Fisher should be in the Sens top 10 if Hull is.

1. Brian Rolston
2. Sergei Samsonov
3. Martin Samuelsson
4. P.J. Axellson
5. Joe Thornton
6. Jonathan Girard(pre injury, who knows when he gets back)
7. Nick Boynton

after that i'm not sure

--Berard is no longer a Bruin

Samsonov should be somewhere on the fastest skater list.

Top is OK, for the bottom guys, this isn't perfect, but closer than what you had.
6. Slava Kozlov
7. Yannick Tremblay
8. Kamil Piros
8. Dan Snyder
10. Frank Kaberle

Nummelin is in Europe, and unlikely to ever make it over. Karl Stewart is actually the fastest under contract, but unlikely to make the team until next year.

Kubina is known for his bad skating. I think you've got Belak on the wrong team, there!

I'm sure I'll forget someone, but the only Bolts who have any noticeable speed:

1. St. Louis
2. Olvestad (can FLY, now if he could just find the back of the net...)
3. Boyle
4. Lecavalier
5. Richards
6. Alexeev

Haven't seen enough of Stillman to really comment on him.

Once again Niedermayer has won the fastest player at the all star game and can dip into the 13 seconds mark for a lap around the ice.

This is what I would say for the Flyers
1. Gagne
2. Kapanen
3. Pitkanen (might be #1, have to see him some more)
4. Johnsson
5. Williams
6. Roenick
7. Amonte
8. Recchi
9. Seidenberg
10. Primeau (actually pretty fast)

The flyers have actually become a really quick team.

I'd be more inclined to swap Jiri Fischer and Steve Yzerman as far as the Wings list goes, but otherwise, I'd pretty much agree with it. I think you got the list pretty close to accurate.

Morrison won fastest skater at the skills competition for Vancouver. That's the reason Chimera is up there.
