Do you realize 83 points playing 25+ minutes a night and full 2 minutes on the PP is about the same as a 3rd liner player scoring 35 points with no pp time and playing 15 minutes a night??? Think about it...Freeing those minutes and evenly distributing them then occasionally awarding a hot hand/line is far superior than what we were doing.

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion yet, but I know what you're getting at. Next year is gonna be a big test for him now, especially after all that drama in the Q.

The fact that we're losing next year's draft pick for this traitor is bitterness beyond bitterness. Is it possible to screw a team over any harder than this?

This hurts. No words.

But the day we lose Lou is the day we all should really fear. Give it time.

Anyways, I never believed Kovy would play out this contract. Had he retired at 39, cap recapture would account for every year up until then, yes?

This may have saved this long term but this sure stings.

A better thing to do would be to strip the nameplate off, burn that if you desire, and leave the jersey to either A) be used as is without a name on back and/or B) get a new name put on the back.

I'm all for the trap.

Bring back Jacques Lemaire.

But where are we going to find 5 players on this team that can defend, skate, and have the chemistry necessary to run the trap? What the hell would our 1-2-2 set-up be? Who is mans the 1 spot? Elias? Zajac?

We were able to own with the trap because we were 4 deep. All 4 lines could run the 1-2-2. Chorkse, Millen, and Holik were all 20 goal scorers because of the trap.

Remember Lemaire benched Tedenby because he's braindead and couldn't pick-up basic, defensive positioning. How is that genius going to learn the trap?

We still can't replace the game breaking ability. It's a hole in the top 6 that we can't fill right now.

Our PP may actually improve though, because we'll probably play two defencemen on it.

It is what it is. His flirting was getting to the point where it was an inevitability. I'm surprised it happened at this time of year, but after January, not surprised it happened. It was a possibility.

The thing that sucks about it is that it erased alot of the work they did over the last couple of weeks. Now they're kind of back at square one, of being a fringe team, instead of being one that I think would have gotten one of the 3 guaranteed slots. Now we're back in the muck with the Isles, Flyers, Columbus, Caps (unless Ovie is walking too)...

I can't even begin to imagine how this must feel... It's as if Subban decided to retire as a Habs fan.

But hey, that might give you a shot at McDavid. By the looks of it, he's the kind of player that might be able to turn a franchise around. Just look at Pittsburgh and how quickly they rose from bottom feeders to perennial contenders...

Ovie is walking also.

I'm sure he'll soon get tired of the INFIDEL AMERICAN TAXES and ESCROWS also.

I am really hoping the IIHF will **** Kovy for this. Tampering with an KHL team while still under contract. Ban him for life.

Who is Boston's "game breaker"?

There not going to give Boucher, Tedenby, Matteau the spot/s. That's WAY too much pressure for young kids to deal with. Think about it. They would basically be asking a 20 year old Boucher who has never played a second of NHL hockey to replace he who shall remain nameless in the top 6. That would be a trainwreck. Matteau isn't making it because we already have Bernier, Clowe, and Zubrus for his role. I have no freaking clue what they plan on doing with Tedenby.

I would imagine so. Either him or Greene.

I can see him and Greene as candidates for captain after Sal.
