Getzlaf x Thornton x Spezza (passing ability)

Ryan Getzlaf is probably the most physical one, Jason Spezza can score the most and Joe Thornton is the best all-around player. But who is the best playmaker ?

I love all of them, they're pretty good, but I would like to see, how's your opinion of that ?

I voted 1. Thornton, 2. Spezza, 3. Getzlaf

If we're talking about prime:
Thornton
Getzlaf
Spezza

Right now:

Getzlaf
Spezza
Thornton

I'm not sure who I would pick between Getz/Spez but Joe is #1.

Thornton, EASY. He had back to back 96 assist seasons playing with CHEECHOO! Spezza got to play with Alfy and Heatley. Spezza isn't even in the same universe as Thornton when it comes to passing unless you're a Sens fan..

Not sure who to rank 2 and 3, but 1 is Joe.

I've seen Thornton make some of the slickest passes ever.

Thornton
Spezza

Getzlaf

Spezza had 71 assists in 68 games once. Getzlaf's highest was 66 in 81 or 57 in 67. Still doesn't touch Spezza's.

Yeah only a Sens fan would think Spezza is an equal playmaker to Thornton.

How many years ago was that? And what have their totals looked like since then (hint Getzlaf has a much higher assists per game ratio since).

Obviously Thornton wins easily if this is based on peak passing ability. I still think he probably edges out the others but it's close.

Thornton/Getzlaf
Spezza

Sens and DUcks fans were getting along so well after the trade. Why would you do this!!!!!! WE WERE BECOMING BESTIES!!!!

On the note Thornton is WAY ahead as far as career goes and now he is still probably slightly ahead.

Thornton is still a better passer than either of the two right now. I'd go Thornton Getzlaf Spezza

Great poll. I had to think a lot about this. In any given season, each one could occupy the 1st spot imo.

Thornton easily takes this.

The guy sees the ice and reads the play better than ANYONE in all of hockey.

Alright, I guess we have it. Absolon Moreau, and Xoto86 have declared Joe Thornton as the highest hockey IQ player in the NHL.
