Way to jump to your own conclusions. Good to see you can have an actual argument about something.

Ummm...

Thornton over his career has averaged 57 assists per 82 games.
Spezza over his career has averaged 52 assists per 82 games.
Getzlaf over his career has averaged 54 assists per 82 games.

I don't see how any of them are head and shoulders above the other. Getzlaf I think has had the benefit of playing with the best crop of players consistently over his career. If you just look at their 3 best years it becomes more interesting.

Thornton's 3 best years: 335 points (1.367 p/g) in 245 games with 255 assists (1.041 a/g).
Spezza's 3 best years: 269 points (1.275) in 211 games with 182 assists (0.862 a/g).
Getzlaf's 3 best years: 249 points (1.106) in 225 games with 181 assists (0.804 a/g).

During that time they had pretty comparable line-mates. I think it's pretty clearly:

Thornton > Spezza >= Getzlaf

Thornton's career numbers are severely hampered by his awful start.

Getzlaf is the most physical, best two-way ability and the best scorer of the bunch.
Thornton is way out of his prime but still comparable to the others
Spezza is worse than both right now.

Getzlaf

Thornton
Spezza

This is about passing not physical, two way play, and scoring. Try again.

As far as passing goes it easily goes to Thornton

Really hard to rate one of Spezza or Getzlaf above the other

Well, I guess it is good that I didn't say he was better.

Top notch reading comprehension though.
