I like Gagner, but his game up is a little too one dimensional. Maybe he improves, but I haven't seen enough evidence, especially face-offs. Good in the room though and has been a good soldier.

Tough call, but I think I'd do it. A good hockey trade.

I'd rather just pick up another winger via free agency then trade away Gagner.

I really like Law's Gagner to the Jackets for Dubinsky and Foligno.

Not sure if it would work out perfectly, but it makes a TON of sense for the Oilers.

Bunch of work yet to be done.

Our highest priority should be to find a #2 LW and a couple of third line wingers.

I'd do Gagner for Dubinsky + Foligno 10/10 times.

It wouldn't surprise me that MacT wanted to draft a C so he can offersheet one of big RFA d-men. (Piet, McD)

I imagine Paajarvi is already penciled in on the third line.

#2 LW, #3 RW, and hopefully a #4 C. Another defenseman and some fourth line wingers wouldn't hurt...

They're probably hoping a package around Hemsky can fill some of those holes.

That would be so sweet. I have a giant man crush on Pietrangelo I highly doubt any OS would be successful though. The RFA d men that are available are the kinds of guys you make room to keep.

Edmonton #Oilers have acquired defenceman Lee Moffie from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for defenceman Kyle Bigos.

Yeah so that's convenient.

If possible I would much rather find a #3 C. I think the oilers would be better off with Gordon of the fourth line.

To Google!

looks like we traded a bruiser for a puck moving defenseman.

maggie has already proven he can overcome adversity with his comeback late last season .. his effort just plain and simple made the rest of the team look pathetic and he should be rewarded accordingly.. especially since he was thrown into the fire too early as a tall skinny kid.. maybe at least wait until camps over before making a decision on a 2nd lw trade

I guess thats true but he is a 3rd line center. If you take away horcoff's pp time they played pretty much same minutes last year and considering most teams don't employ 3rd line center on pp seems like he is a 3rd line center. His EV and PK numbers are better then horcoff's too so if you feel confident we can replace Horcoff on PP he is a better 3rd line center for 2.5 mil less thats just a great replacement IMO.

I hate looking at NSH's roster. If we had half the jam that team is going to have next year, we'd be set. I don't think there is a team in the league that will work harder than than team will.
My preference between the two would definitely be Craig Smith he looks to have done really well at all levels and if he didn't take a step back this season you'd think his NHL point totals would be going up, Spaling also doesn't have sexiest Corsi and looks more like the guy on the chopping block. Taylor Beck is an interesting option he looks like he is pretty much NHL ready, but they didn't really leave a spot open for him on the NHL roster, probably headed back to the AHL for more seasoning, but that seems more like a Detroit kind of decision holding back a player that should probably be playing in the NHL.

Why? if we get a trade for a 2nd line LW and he out performs him then we have the excellent decision of putting a 2nd line player on 3rd line. I don't understand a line of thinking where you never try to make competition for spots in the lineup.

He's 6'1 and put up 32 points last year for Michigan in a very solid year for a defenceman. Had a down year this season though with only 13 points - his role must have changed with the addition of Trouba.

I can't judge as I really don't know this kid at all. I always had a fit of a soft spot for Bigos for some reason and I was hoping he'd be a third pairing guy for us some day. Then again, he'd have a tough time beating out Musil in the long-run.

From HF

Talent Analysis

Moffie is a mobile defenseman with excellent poise with the puck, will jump up into the rush and is not afraid to become the trailer on the offensive play. The puck-moving defenseman possesses a very good shot and can get pucks through the traffic to the net by traversing the blue line to change the shoot angles and finding better lanes. His skating is outstanding with smooth strides; good speed and can play both sides of the ice effectively. He needs to shoot the puck more often with his big point shot and play with more physicality down low in his own end of the ice.

Future

Moffie will be expected to play a bigger role on the team's specialty units, provide character and leadership as a returning senior for the Wolverines while continuing his development at the NCAA level.

11. Lee Moffie, Defense: Moffie is a smart two-way player with good physicality and some offensive upside.

IMO keep PRV as 3rd line LW, use schultz hemsky and picks to get 2nd line lw (and possibly another top 4 d). sign a 4th line center and rw pushing brown to 13th forward and acton to call up. I feel if those are accomplished we are much improved in bottom 6, defense and depth which were our 3 weaknesses last year.
