true, and Brown doesn't change that when he plays really because everyone knows he can't do anything other than throwing his body or a punch.

It's so hard to get players that can play AND are tough. Clarkson was a guy like that, but his price was through the roof.

I don't think the we are the intimidating type of team. I think the Blackhawks showed you don't need to be 'the Boston Bruins' to be successful. LA and Boston are one way to do it, but it's not the only way.

The hawks still had guys like Bickell (6'4), Shaw who was a pest and still hit even though he's only 5'10, Brandon Saad who actually uses his body and plays a powerful game, and Keith and Seabrook played the body. You don't have to be a massive team but you need guys who will use their bodies. We, sadly, do not have any guys like that, except for Hall.

Really? Really??? Have you ever watched Brown live? Besides on tv? Nobody talked trash to the kids when Brownie was on the bench. Brown is unsung hero on this team.

You must not have watched Yakupov too closely last year.

Smid is definitely a physical player. Jones was until last season - so can hopefully get that aspect of his game back.

Yakupov does use his body, but he's not overly powerful. I love Yakupov and I know he can hit. Hopefully he can turn into an Ovi style player. Smid and Ference are our only aggressive defencemen. What we need is guys in our top 9 who play a power forward style. I wouldn't mind Morrow-Gordon-Mueller if Mueller will play that style.

If Yakupov can add some pounds to that frame... Just imagine what he could do if he added the physical aspect to his game.

I'm pretty sure MacT is counting on Eager, Joensuu and Ryan Hamilton to be the "meat" in the bottom 6 on the LW side.

Whether that gamble pays off on two players with very limited NHL experience and another who is fresh out of the AHL... remains to be seen.

I guess you could definitely call it a BOLD move... whether it's a smart move or not is debatable.

edit... just to add... from the little I know about Hamilton and Joensuu... they do look like decent gambles to possibly pay off and if Eager can ever fulfill his true potential... it could be a homerun on that LW side that makes MacT look like a genius. I'm actually really hoping they do pan out because we certainly could use the size/grit/truculence down there.

I'd be ok with Joesnuu playing 60+ games on the 4th line. Big guy who can fight and produce.

I think Joensuu will be one of those signings that goes under the radar but pays off in spades.

He was one of the guys I really wanted out of free agency this year. I think he could be that perfect 3rd line PWF for many years.

And I still think It's possible for him to go there. With Smyth and Jones under contract it's likely the coaches and management would side with those two before Joesnuu. He'll have to prove himself before he plays, and i believe he has all the skill and grit to earn a spot on the 4th line.

Produce? Since when? If he could produce I don't think the Isles would have let him walk.

- Hemsky absolutely not, Hemsky's negativity/laziness both during practice and during the games can only be a bad influence for the kids
- Jagr see before
- Antropov?
- Mueller

#4C
- Boyle
- Z.Smith
- Smithson
- Goc
- Begin
- Gomez
- Halpert I'm assuming this is Jeff Halpern? he still plays?

Sigh, I wish we'd just matched Nashville's offer on Nystrom, apparently we were in on him.

He's one of the guys you "really wanted out of free agency this year" and you think he might not crack the team?

As it stands there are 13 fwds on the roster (including Gagner and Lander). He doesn't have to beat out anyone.

You should watch how many scrums he's in or should I say he isn't in? Ideally he'd play tougher than he does.

I think it at least counts for something. He plays hard and his hip check is now actually pretty good.

67gp 8g 7 a 15pts in nhl games is not horrible and he has matured more as a player in Europe since ,those types of numbers would be just fine for 4th line
