I have my doubts that MacT will make any significant trades. Hemsky doesn't really have... value.

I could see us dealing our first away. I could see us dealing defense prospects not named Oscar or Darnell. But that "wow" deal that Stauffer was talking about probably already happened with the Perron trade.

@EdmCaper @JimmyFingers315 rumor is:Edm get Price & Mont D. Buf gets Gionta, Edm Star, 2 2nds, McCarron. Mont gets Vanek and Miller.
So Les Canadiens who had a pretty good record last year give up Price, Gionta, McCarron, a d-man and possibly a 2nd for one year each of Vanek and Miller? And Buffalo give up only Vanek and Miller and get Gionta, an Oilers star, 2 2nd's and McCarron? I'm gonna say Montreal gets bent over a barrel on this one and Buffalo make out like bandits. Oh and hey look the rumor came from a Buffalo fan.

MacT has openly questioned Dubynk. He's been trying to upgrade goalie position. So us being interested in Price doesn't surprise me.

The issue is no way Bergevin swaps Duby and Price

Que Miller. Miller wants out. He had indicated NY or Cali. But looking at those teams goalie situations means no Miller for them. So Mtl could appeal to Miller. Bergevin wouldn't take heat for swapping Price for Miller.

Thus a 3 way between Mtl-Buf-Edm makes sense.

The issue now is just figuring out the other pieces.

Buf is rebuilding so our 1st is probably very appealing to them. I just think upgrading from Duby to Price is not worth our 1st.

If we were getting other pieces like Ott/Foligno/Pysk I'd gladly move the 1st.

Edm:
Price, Ott, Kaletta

Mtl:
Miller, Edm 3rd

Buf:
Edm 1st, Dubynk
Oilers would have to move the first. That's probably the only appealing piece going from Edmonton.

Buf gives up Miller, Ott and Kaletta and get back a ~10th overall and Dubnyk? lol, no way that happens.

Hmmm a Buffalo trade rumor not involving Drew Stafford?

BTW, I still believe Stafford will be an Oiler in the coming weeks. I've shared my info with a mod recently. If you don't like it delete my post.

Hemsky for Stafford, though I don't know if Stafford is a 3rd line RW...

well hes not playing like a 2nd line RW, and yes is overpaid for a 3rd liner, but hes been in the crosshairs for a while now.

Meszaros has really been hampered by injuries and no longer the same player. Still not fully recovered yet.

Philly would love to move him but no takers. Also not much enough interest for Grossman. That's why they're trying to dangle Coburn as he's the only one that got value around the league.

Buffalo is rebuilding, doubt they'd want to trade for a guy one year away from UFA.

I'm gonna get killed by all the Snowpants lovers but I'd personally trade Gagner for Josh Bailey straight up.

Bigger, more heart, way more balance on his skates, Hallsy's buddy and former linemate.

Bring on the replies!

God no. Bailey has been even more underwhelming than Gagner. The only player I'd want coming back that could be realistically available is Brock Nelson.

So let me get this straight...

You wouldn't trade snowpants for a proven #2 C with size but you would for a guy who has played 1 NHL game

BTw, Bailey as a 20 year old in the AHL put up 1.54 ppg....Nelson as a 20 year in the AHL? Less than 1 PPG.

Bailey doesn't have size. He's 6'1'' 190lbs and definitely doesn't play bigger than that.

He's also a winger.

But does he let people punch him in the face for fun like SS does?

A C his whole career....played mostly wing last year so ill give you half a point.

46.2% last year. Remind me again how snowpants did last year?

Oh, that's right 43.9%.

Nothing better to do but browse cap geek and this occured to me. Erat may be a good fit as the third line Rw and can jump into the top six if needed. He is a little pricey for the third line but the cap isn't too much of a issue as of yet and he only has 2 years reamaining on his deal.

If I recall correctly there were rumors Wash. was interested in Hemsky at the trade dead line. Hemsky might make a good second line Rw there as his style would be a good change up from Ovies power game.
If Washington would do that trade, I'd hate Tambellini for not trading Hemsky to Washington for Forsberg... if Washington prefers Hemsky to Erat

I like Josh Bailey but definitely not worth Gagner imo. Too inconsistent and doesn't bring enough offense to the table.

I think you and I have differing opinions on what proven entails.

Yes the total 75 draws he took last season definitely proves he's a center.

Kyle Okposo took more draws than him and did better too.

To be fair, Gagner was 47.6% a year ago, and took over 700 faceoffs this year averaging about 43%. Meanwhile, Bailey took only 75. To compare that, Hall took about 54 faceoffs and was 54.7% on the dot. Prior to this year, Bailey has never posted a faceoff win percentage above 44%, and this year shows he wasn't used very much at center.

I for one hope we do not make a move for Price. He is too inconsistent and lately has been bad more then good.

I would consider him and Dubnyk to be fairly comparable right now.

If one of our big 5 is moving, it needs to be for a top pairing D or a comparable forward talent.

Any goalie that would be good enough to trade one of the big 5 for would not be available.

Bailey's season highs as a center are 35 points and 44% on the draw.

He isn't an NHL center.

A three-way trade?

Why not a ten-way trade?

Everyone wins that way.

I could see Buffalo trading Miller for picks and prospects. We should be pushing hard for him. They need to rebuild, already have some pretty decent prospects but could of course use some more. I could see them being interested in taking Dubnyk as a stopgap, he's half-decent but won't derail their rebuild.

But then again it seems these are baseless rumours to begin with.

30 way trade. Every team gets a Flames first rounder sometime during the next 30 years. The Flames get a monopoly over every player with the letters or sound "owski" in their name.
