Will Tuukka play the full 8 years of his contract with the Bruins?

Posted it on the main board but I'd figure I'd post it here too. Simple yes or no answer.

Why wouldn't he? It's good money.

But it depends if the B's trade him in the future that he spends that time as a Bruin.

I voted no, but only because if Subban turns out to be the real deal, there is no way he'll want to be a backup until he's 27.

So he's going to retire in your opinion?

The question is "will he play the full 8 years of his contract?" Doesn't say with the Bruins.

Maybe people are implying the "as a Bruin" caveat which doesn't exist in the thread title.

Will Rask play the 8 years, probably a 80-90% chance. I guess a severe injury could derail it.

Will Rask play all 8 in a Bruins uniform? That is probably closer to 50-50, maybe 60/40

Sure Subban won't wait until he is 27, and he is a nice prospect, but Rask is already an exceptional goalie, and he will be just exiting his prime at the end of the contract.

Chances are extremely high that Subban will never be as good as Rask is right now.

Subban needs to start his first NHL game before I'll care too much about if he is going to get upset being behind TUUKKA. He would have to completely dominate the AHL and be lights out once he got to the NHL or Tuukka has to falter.

He'll definitely outlast his contract because Tuukka is that good and competitive; although I took the assumption that he questioned whether it would be full length with the Bs. Maybe I read too much into it, but in the context of having our best interest in the Bs, I wouldn't care where he played the remainder of the contract if not with the Bs.

Guess it's hard to say what the OP meant. But seeing this came so quickly after the Kovalchuk "retirement" I take the question at face value. Will he finish the 8 years?

If I'm correct , I believe after the forth year of his deal he has a limited no trade clause. My opinion is IF any of their goalies become off the charts good you will see Rask moved for a good return.

Only if the cap goes where most think it will , UP.

Okay... Probably, dude wanted-and still wants-to be a Bruin.

So, yes, unless a severe injury derails his career in the vein of Clint Malarchuk-no pun intended.

Yes... unless the Bruins plan to chose the Pittsburgh way and tank for years.

He'll play in the NHL, but the full 8 as a Bruins, who knows.

Which would likely make Subban good trade bait.

Look at the Bruins 8 years ago. Any roster changes?

Tuukka has a chance to play the full 8 years. He could also completely fall off the wagon and suck. Unlikely but hard telling with goalies.

Subban just strikes me as the quick/bernier situation really. I dont believe we ever see him as a starter in Boston UNLESS tuukka falls off his game..which is kind of a shame because I think Subban like Thomas would be perfect for our system because of the athleticism.

But to answer this question, we dont even know if claude or PC will be here in 8 years, let alone tuukka.

Point is, there's no Kovalchuk-like reason to think Tuukka won't be here for the duration.

I said 'yes' but don't know if all eight as a Bruin.

After year 4 when his movement constraints lessen and if Subban has grown as projected, the Bruins will have a performance and pay decision to make. Nice flexible situation.
