Duchene close to signing extension

According to Dater, could be close to something like (minimum) 4 years at 6m per.

Should be making less than Tavares/Hall IMO.

Too be exact he said a "minimum of four", not 'close to'.

Already edited, Mr. Fastidious, and quoted the link for the fuller story...

More money than Tavares? Seems a bit too soon for that.

Duchene took a bridge contract to earn a bigger salary, whereas Tavares signed his straight out of his ELC.

Tavares is underpaid, and Duchene took a two year bridge contract at 3.5m. He deserves to get paid.

Lol, well get it right the first time then.

This is what I posted on our board, and my best guess at his contract.

That's comparable with Tavares & Hall, which are Duchene's two best comparables IMO.

5M, 5.5M, 6M, 7M, 7M averages out to a AAV of 6.1M per year, and is very similar to how they handled EJ and other contracts with a raise in pay every year as they reach their prime years. Not sure how much bearing the past has on future contracts at this point though.

However the reasoning would be that the team should be making more money as the team gets more competitive and the players mature. So it's a fair way to raise the players salary as they come into their prime years, and conducive to a projected financial business model as well.

Not to be compared to Tavares, that guys contract is straight robbery. Best contract in the league long term. 24/4yrs would he fine value for Duchene.

$6m is probably fair. I'd rather it be longer than 4 though.

Get it done, lock him up, move on to the next RFA/UFA on the list. Lord knows the Avs have enough of them to deal with this year, might as well start early.

6 mill is too much for Duchene at this point in his career.

44 points in 47 games this season. If he keeps it up then it'll be a steal.
