Have to give a big thumbs up to Billy Arnold. He has looked incredible. Fast with some skill; big fan of this draft pick.

A few of the usual suspects stood out for me. Again really pleased with our defensive prospects, they may not be blue chip, but some really interesting pieces that could have some potential.

Berra had a rough day, but I pin that more on Team Black being stacked.

Berra and Ortio have been far above what I expected. Not that I thought they were bad but I think both are going to challenge Ramo and MacDonald for the nhl jobs. This year may be a painful year but there is a lot to be excited about too.

Three stars for me. I will void Sven because, there's a reason he's clearly our best prospect.

1) Granlund
2) Arnold
3) Knight

Honorable mentions go to:
Penner and Monahan.

I was thoroughly impressed today. I think it's pretty clear Jankowski's still got miles to go before he's ready. Kanzig and Sieloff played quite well, I am excited to see Kanzig's development especially, I think with the right direction he'll be a force, even in the NHL.

Kulak stood out for me too, he was good today.

JG played well with Monahan, it's exciting how good those two might be on a line in the NHL in maybe 3-4 years... it'd be great.

Kanzig was easily the biggest stand out to me today. Every shift he was a force wither it be a shot, hit, solid defenive play, etc. Its crazy to think that at 18 he is 6'7 241 pounds and only 7% body fat. I think if he works on his skating and tries to work on picking his spots to shoot he will be a real good defenseman.

Sieloff also reminds me of Regehr, he gets in everybody's face and loves to hit. I think he needs to work on his puck handling and his first pass but the defensive side of his game is very good.

With Breen, Kanzig, Seiloff, and Ramage we have a collection of younger players that love to play physically. If they all pan out our opponents are going to hate playing Calgary again.

That would be interesting.

At this point I am hoping for

NHL:
Ramo
MacDonald

AHL:
Berra
Ortio

ECHL:
Brossoit

then if Berra/Ortio looks nhl ready I would try to move MacDonald and move everyone one below MacDonald up a slot.

Someone has to play there and I think Ortio is a step ahead of him at this point. Many goalies spend time in the ECHL to get playing time and I said that it would only be until Berra or Ortio are able to take over for MacDonald.

Penner is at camp on tryout, no? Do we end up signing him? I think to AHL contract.

Kanzig has been incredibly surprising. A number of times I sat there thinking #73 must be Wotherspoon because he looked so solid and polished compared to a lot of the other guys. Nope, Kanzig.

Arnold's also been fantastic (granted he's one of the older guys, so you hope he stands out).

Agreed. I thought Kanzig looked terrific. I'm not about to make this something more than a good prospect scrimmage but I was impressed.

I hope we sign some of those tryout guys to at least help Abby. I think the Heat will be deadly this year

Jankowski and Granlund actually stood out the most to me today. Jankowski surprised me with his ability to consistently win face-offs and puck battles in the corner. He seems to float a little which i do not like at all but overall I thought he was on of our better players. Granlund was the number 1 player that we saw today though, he was absolutely flying out there, He was playing hard, winning battles, playing physically, and had that amazing quick release. Other notable stand outs were Elson, Kanzig, and Agostino.

I was able to watch the first intermission and the second period. Basically enough for me to hear Conroy say he was disappointed in Baertschi, Horak, and to a lesser extent Hanowski in the first period but saw them step it up in second. My stream fell apart in the third.

Fantastic reading through this thread guys! I'm at work today so I wasn't able to watch, great to hear about Granlund. He played on a poor team back home, but did a great job in the WJC's, maybe all he needs to play with other skilled players like him to really elevate his game. Getting really excited!!
