Nope. Even the thread title said "Drouin vs Barkov".

Having not seen either of these players enough I trust the professionals in this one and vote Barkov.

As the panthers? I'd stick with barkov. As the Avs, I'd take drouin. I think they're close enough where you can draft for need and not feel bad.

Drouin is the slightly better player IMO.

Drouin is going to be the best player out of that draft.

It depends on team needs. However, of the two, I'd choose Drouin.

Both are great prospects who will have great NHL careers, but I think Drouin will be better. I watched him play, and he's the next Patrick Kane IMO. I would have taken Drouin 2nd overall, but Florida needed a centre, so that's why they took Barkov.

Barely any poster from America is going to choose Barkov, because they most likely know almost nothing about him, other than his size and position.

Sticking with my original prediction: Drouin. I think Florida passed on two better players.

im curious, everyone saying drouin, have you actually watched barkov play?

these are a game early last season, all of his shifts

to me, barkov seems just so mature in his game and really elite, not as flashy, but he got increadible skill set but cant flash it off because its a mans league and not junior

Barkov's playing in a higher skill level league from what I've hard (SM-Liga is approximately equal to AHL, which is generally better than the junior leagues overall), and he's top 10 in points and first line center on his team IIRC.

Drouin definitely has the flashiness though, his hands are sick, but we must remember all those highlight videos are against other junior league players or at the Lightning development camp (AHLers basically).

I think Barkov's slightly safer because of his size and playing in a slightly better league. However Drouin's more exciting and probably has more upside. It's a tossup really, I don't think you could say either choice is definitively wrong.

I can't shake the feeling that Drouin is going to be one of those guys who's in for a rude awakening in the NHL when his bag of tricks doesn't work on better competition. Barkob seems like he has the smarter, more mature game that should translate better and probably be the safer pick, while Drouin has big upside. I think it's close enough that team needs can win out and Florida made a good choice. They probably really wish Colorado took Jones though like was initially thought

Seeing as Strome is being shifted to wing, for the Isles I'd have to take Barkov.

I'll wager that Drouin will constantly outproduce Barkov from now til the rest of their careers.

I see this a lot and it always puzzles me a little.

I've seen prospects not make the NHL because of their lack of speed, lack of size, suspect decision-making, shoddy work ethic, injuries ... but never because of some kind of deep-seated mental illness that made them want to deke everyone they came by.

Drouin doesn't have a bag of tricks. He has hands. Along with quick skating and fantastic playmaking abilities. Those are tangible elements that are just as useful in the NHL as they are in junior. Maybe he won't deke out defencemen every night, but he'll be able to keep possession of the puck long enough to pass to an open man.

The significant risk with Drouin isn't that his offense won't translate. It's that with his size and very offensive minded game, he might become a defensive liability. On the flipside, Barkov's significant risk is that he might not develop into a dynamic enough offensive player to justify being picked 2nd overall. For a top 3 pick, that's just as scary, if not more so.
