Everyone to the KHL!

I wish him the best of luck. Also: removes any temptation to try to insert him into the lineup, and creates space in St John's.

Not a surprise, with the Pardy signing it was clear that the Jets were going in another direction for #9/10 depth defenseman, IMO.

Good for Meech, KHL game will play more to his strength and he should have a decent career over there. Make more money and play a more important role. It was painfully obvious this guy was not an NHL level defenseman.

Best of luck to a fellow Dakota CC alum.

Meech to Minsk
Burmi and Stapler to Ak Bars
Kubalik to Lev

Would be amusing if they all played together.

I wonder if more fringe guys will sign overseas for short contracts with the cap situation this year. I mean a lot of teams will be up close to the cap with little room left.

ITs about the money . These guys can only play for so long . Meech would get a deal in the KHL for around 700,000 cash . Thats like 1.5 mill in the NHL . Or he could make around 90000 taxable in St Johns. Good for him. Good for young players coming up. More options to continue playing and making money at a sport they love . And if u are a good skater the KHL is a great place .

Best of luck to him. His skating ability should serve him well on the big ice surface.

Typical Canadian bolting from North America to the KHL.

STOP DRAFTING CANADIANS!

I can't spot the joke in those "another one bolts to the KHL" jokes...

Ha! As am I. Not surprised by this at all. Meech was a serviceable guy in a pinch it was obvious he saw the writing on the wall.

Oh No - another player bolts from the Jets? The exodus has begun. Who's next? Chevy obviously has lost control of the team, and I wonder if this is another player that Noel has damaged?

And still no word on the unsigned RFA's? Well, it seems the entire edifice is crumbling right before our eyes. The Jets will be lucky to hold onto 30th place this season.

Best of luck to Meech, sounds like the KHL is beginning to really be an alternative option to the NHL. You never know, he may be back yet.

edit: Out of all the guys that contracts were due, he was by far the one that seemed to want to stay the most.

This tells me that 29 other NHL teams failed to offer Meech a contract as well.

...or wisely didn't offer him a one way.

Seems like a good dude, but he isn't an NHLer.
