Probably one of his best goals. I did a tribute to the Habs centennial season and used this goal in it, comparing it to a goal scored by Beliveau (same moves, same end)
He's scored many awesome goals, made Chara look foolish when he dangled the puck around the boards to pick up his glove, but this elbow to Tucker sticks out to me. The mind he has to seek revenge WHILE dangling the puck... man.
I remember reacting to this when it happened live. I just sat deep in my seat, completely silent, eyes glazed over. Mrs. CS thought he was dead.
Having followed Galchenyuk through his final year in Sarnia and then watching him make the leap to the NHL, I felt this goal. I jumped off my coach, let out a big yell and danced around the living room.
From a 2007 piece where Dornhoefer was interviewed:
I watched the game on TV, and I still remember it like it happened yesterday. I'll never forget the sight of a Forum maintenance worker walking on to the ice with a hammer in hand to repair the broken boards.
"I think there's still an indentation there," Dornhoefer said over the phone last week with another chuckle. "It's the hardest I've ever been hit."
Dornhoefer was racing down the right-wing boards with the puck and had just crossed the Canadiens' blue-line when Robinson caught him with a hip check, sending the Philadelphia Flyer crashing into the unforgiving Forum boards.
