Personally, I save trade proposals for the bar so when I realize how terrible they are later I can save grace by blaming it on booze. While none really come to mind, I remember arguing with a former coworker that the Sens would be way better off with Redden over Chara. There was no liquor involved but I think I may have been a little off with that one.
ANA gets a highly toughted youngster who's yet to prove himself in Filatov that never found his niche in Columbus and the 4th overall pick in which they can draft their future top defensemen (Fowler/Gudbranson/Gormley) for if/when Niedermeyer retires.
CBJ gets a skilled powerful skilled top 6 winger in Lupul a big minute defensemen on the backend (WIZ). Also, they receieve a former #1 in Mitera who was highly touted shutdown D-MAN who was slowed by an injury and looking to regain form and both of Anaheim's 2010 1st's in a projected deeper than normal draft..
Reasoner(1M UFA next year) - Penalty killer
Kovalchuk(6.4M till end of 09/10 season) - Goal scorer that'll **** the lines.
Niclas Havelid(2.7M UFA next year) - Solid defenseman -Good stay at home guy who'll score some.
Shawn Horcoff(5.5M next year) - Either Horcoff or White would take 1st line center position.
Denis Grebeshkov(1.5M this year, 3-4M next year) - Gives Atlanta some much needed help on defense
Stiaos(2.7M till end of 10/11 season)
Robert Nilsson(2M till end of 10/11 season)
Rob Schremp(800k. Likely 1M+ next season.)
1st rounder in 09 and 10
3rd rounder in 09_____________________________________________
14.2M(including Greb's and Scremp's raises.) http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh...152&highlight=
I wanted The big O very badly that draft year and the trade was on the condition that he was available at that pick (he wasn't). My short sightedness almost let me trade a future number 1 goalie for the paltry price of the 11th overall pick!!!
What a horrible disaster that would have been if that had gone through...
I was at the 08 draft in Ottawa, and when the Senators traded up with Nashville I was like PRAYING that they'd pick local boy Tyler Cuma. When they announced their pick, I was really angry and upset especially since they traded up to pick someone who was projected to be a 2nd rounder in my book.
