It's not on the Panthers site yet, but I assume it will be come the morning, Capgeek has confirmed it tonight: 3 years with a $3,575,000 cap hit.

Good for him. He is definitely the "sleeper" of this draft which was initially supposed to be about McKinnon and Jones. Can't wait to see what he's got under the hood as comments about him are spectacular.

I wouldn't call him a sleeper at all.

Glad to see this. Hope he makes the team and plays like ferocious tiger whenever he plays any team except the Oilers.

It's only like Alexander Semin should actually be Aleksandr Syomin

Good for Barkov and Florida though, they will be a team I will watch when Washington/Carolina don't clash time wise. Looking like and exciting young team

I wondered that too. 3.2 million cap hit seems high.

I just hope they will send him down if its not working right away. IMO he isnt NHL ready just yet, especially without proper training this summer because of the shoulder injury. Unless they've focused on his skating, lets hope the injury was a blessing in disguise.

But do not rush this special talent please. He says he is ready but thats how its always been with Barkov, never backing down from challenge. This one might be too much.

A lot of people didnt think Barkov was ready for FM-liiga when he first started playing there, but look how wrong they had.. Barkov had an more defensive role his first year, but learned to adjust hes offencive game as well and the year after that he nearly dominated in FM-liiga. Its realy the right thing to have him play in the NHL right away, And maybe put him in a more defensive role if hes offence not working. I realy think thats the best way he develops

In this case I think you are wrong. There is no transcription nor transliteration to latin letters for his name since he was named in latin letters. His name is Aleksander Barkov it says in his passport. Aleksander Semin's name is Александр Валерьевич Сёмин. So in Barkov's case his name doesn't need to be transliterated since he was named in Finland.

If you look at Selanne, Barkov could be in the league for the next 24 years for career 2000 points.
