lol this is funny. Anyways I think Jensen should be our 4th at least.

Excluding Corrado because he is basically NHL material or almost
there I will talk picks like players that haven't really played.

Horvat
Guance
Shinkaruk
Jensen

The funny part about Jensen is that, at close, he was 2nd to Horvat in the #1 poll, but was then bumped to 3rd in the #2 poll. So what we have are a lot of people who are not sold on Jensen, to the point where they are passing right over him, and a couple dozen who think he is the absolute nuts.

It's nice to have the depth to provoke these conversations, though.

I personally have voted Jensen every time. Although I should have voted Horvat first.

I wonder why everybody is writing off Lack. Before his injury, he was arguably the Canucks' best prospect.

Gaunce for me, Jensen's production with the Wolves last season was too underwhelming to put him ahead of Gaunce.

I have Jensen 2nd to Horvat and even that was a tough decision, so yes I have been voting him almost everytime here too.

Glad he's atleast finally going to win.

Guy only played 20 games with them last year, shouldn't be changing anybodys view. He's still going to be a great player IMO and will put up points when hes used in a role where hes asked to be the scorer.

Maybe a combination of him being under the rader for a while and the uncertainty of how he'll play in his return.

EDIT: Additionally many of those players who have passed him in terms of prospect rank have risen quickly within the last year or are new to the system, so it may not be a case of Lack falling in the minds of people, but new talent surpassing him.

I like Gaunce here, sure he may have less offensive upside than Jensen, but his bust potential is way lower IMO when you look at his defensive ability, size, character, leadership and not to mention that he's a center and centers and d-men will always be in high demand at a premium price in the NHL. I don't understand why so many people believe that Jensen should run away with this poll.

That combined with the fact that people dont value goalies like they once did, realizing that you can cheap out in the goalie department and spending your money on the team in front, in the new cap world

Alot of good goalies nowadays

You basically have to be super young and show amazing potential (top stats in the league) just to be of some value as a goaltender

Voted Jensen.

As for Lack, he'll be after Gaunce for me. I'm worried about his flexibility following his surgery, but if he's fine he probably would have taken this spot for me.

I went with Gaunce, but it's a real tough call. He's a safe bet to be a top 9 forward and shows an excellent mix of size and smarts. Jensen is close, but his lack of consistency is genuinely worrying for me. I still believe Jensen has a future as a top 6 forward, and hopefully he can put together a 30-30 season in the AHL to prove he's ready for the next step.

I think he will be a good player too, but I'd have him at #5 behind Gaunce. If he had a better stint with the Wolves, I'd put him higher, but 4 points in 20 games at the AHL level is concerning for a player who's supposed to be offensively talented. Gaunce gets the benefit of the doubt, since he was (and still is) too young to be assigned to the AHL.

I thought you were joking, I didn't realize you were this high on Mallet. Just curious why you have him that high. He didn't do much at the AHL level, and spent most of his past season in the ECHL.

i dont think so, so many players in the nhl who had good careers started their first short stint in the ahl off pretty poorly , statistically speaking. but started the next year well. so yeah it will be a little concerning if he doesn't do much next year, actually very. lol
