Henrik Lundqvist

and No I'm not talking about in a trade, you can forget that

What would your team (with you as GM) offer him if he were to hit FA? Rangers likely sign him and this point is moot, but just for the hell of it.

For a team that NEEDS a goalie, a la Philly, this is where you walk up to his agent and hand him a blank cheque. You sign him for whatever he wants because chances are, he'll be worth every penny you throw at him.

6 years, blank check. If he reaches UFA he realistically may be the most talented UFA goalie ever.

Hank could easily get $7m+ if he were to hit FA, I could see him going for even more if there was a team desperate enough

Isn't Rask already getting 7M?

Thought so, so bidding starts at 7M per then.

I've already got the rest of his career planned:

1. Sign a 6.5M/1yr deal with Pittsburgh.
2. Win a Stanley Cup.
3. Sign a 59.5M/7yr deal with whomever will pay up.
4. Retire a wealthy and accomplished man.

Why am I not his agent yet?

I could see him taking slightly less then normal to play on a contender. For the Penguins Id offer 7 years at 7mil but I could easily see him taking less then that.

I actually believe he's going to end up taking less money to stay with the Rangers because he loves everything about the city, and his teammates. Yes, I absolutely believe he wants a cup, but I believe his ultimate goal is to win one here.

Penguins signing another 7 year/7 mil per contract? They'd be running one line with Henrik on the back end playing 82 games.

I feel like there are multiple threads about Lundqvist about how much he's worth. He's not going anywhere so what's the point?

Blank check. But as a Sabres fan I know there's no chance he comes here. But in a hypothetical, if I'm any GM, I say "here's your check, you tell us how much", And hope he wants to pick my team bc I know at least 10-20 GM's are doing the same thing.

I would imagine the Rangers re-sign him though, can't see them letting him go unless he wanted to leave and there don't seem to be any of those signs.

Still better than the Rangers' offense

It actually would be feasible though. If we signed a league minimum backup, we'd be paying only about a half million more on goalies. Of course, if Lundqvist got hurt, we'd be dead.

Regardless, there's no doubt in my mind that Lundqvist re-signs with the Rangers, so no cap implosion here

Assuming the cap goes back to 70M they'd have about 6.5M to sign two third liners, a fourth liner, a spare forward, and a backup goalie. It would be tight, but you have to think they'd make it work if it meant getting a real goalie.

His value is "a lot more". By that, I mean if a GM called and offered something, that would probably be the response.

A player that I could see getting 9M as a UFA. I think if he re-signs with the Rags he can get 8M.

Last time I looked, Brooklyn was in NYC. The Isles have the cap space to hand him a max years near blank-check offer if they want to. Will they? A need for a long term answer in goal, a need to make a splash as they move into Barclays, and possibly new ownership says "who knows?" Probably only a dream, but one hockey fan's dream is another one's nightmare. Sleep tight, since you brought this up in the first place.
