JVR to NYR.

Curious as to what it would take to get him.

Something like Kreider, Miller and a 1st?

How close/far am I?

Why would either team do that? Rangers can't afford the cap hit, and probably shouldn't be giving up what amounts to 3 1st round picks. For the leafs, I'm sure they'd want a more proven player in return.

Because the Rangers can get a legit top-6 winger with room to grow and the Leafs can get 3 pieces that will ultimately make them a deeper team in the future.

By the way, I was asking. I never said they would or wouldn't do that deal.

It's more of me trying to gauge and I'm a fan of JVR.

I'm not interested in parting with BOTH Kreider and Miller in the same deal (one or the other), especially with a 1st round pick (though it should be a late pick).. I just think it makes more sense to move Del Zotto for a top forward rather than 2 cheap young forwards

JvR is on a sweet contract (considering what we just gave Clarkson), is our best forward at scoring in front of the net, plays on the PK, and is a guy who steps up in the playoffs.

I think he's one of our most important forwards. In saying that, we could definitely use an elite defensive dman on our team (I was the one that started the Girardi to Toronto proposal thread).

So something around Girardi, but the deal would have to be balanced out given Girardi's age/UFA status (he'll likely be getting a raise).

Leafs would essentially need a winger coming back in the trade, or have another trade for a winger from another team lined up. It doesn't make sense for us to lose JvR/MacArthur/Komarov/Frattin all in one offseason, and only add Clarkson as a replacement.

not a bad proposal but we have no interest in trading JVR

Unless a #1c or #1d is coming back, JVR wont be moved. Value is there, hes just to important to Toronto's future.

The OP has great value in his proposal, but I think the leafs would rather want a deal based on Staal. Leafs need help on D.

Value aside, I'd prefer a deal around roster players, not picks or prospects.

The Leafs are not rebuilding and should be trying to add to their existing core, not trade away Top 6 forwards.

I wouldn't want Staal. He has two years left on his deal, and then there's a big risk he's just gonna leave to go play in Carolina. All three of his brothers are in that organization at the moment.

seeing as scoring is the Rangers problem, I'd much rather do this deal than give up both Kreider and Miller in the same deal.

I think the value is there, but i do agree that leafs can not trade jvr unless its for a legit #1 center on a good contract.

But one of the better trade offers I have seen in awhile.

JVR is only 2 years older, and is a much better player.

Miller/1st do not help the leafs.

Easy no.

What righty D do you have?

Staal + Girardi
for
JVR + righty D

Do you have something the Hawks want for 2nd rounder Clendenning?
Maybe we throw in a medium add for your trouble.

Franson is our best RHD.

To be honest, for JVR, I think you start with Stepan and add from there.

Something around Stepan and Girardi or Staal would get the conversation moving in the right direction... I'm sure the Leafs add a decent piece as well to JVR, but it's at least interesting...

Could particularly use a Clendenning type, but with an eye to keeping it in house,

Staal + Girardi + X
for
JVR + Franson + Y

solve x and y

That silence you hear at the other end of the phone is because Sather hung up.

there wouldn't be silence, he'd be laughing hysterically before he hung up.

Good trade proposal, and if we proposed this a year or two ago, I'd probably take it. It is the type of deal a rebuilding team would go for, and I think we are further along at this point.

I would do that. Then try and do a deal around Staal for Lindholm or Skinner from Carolina.
