It was called the 6 degrees of Lindros. Like how some of the players from the Lindros deal were later used in other deals to get those players mentioned. Damn! Wish I still had that issue around somewhere!
Oh I know what you are talking about. The Lindros deal basically set up the Avs whole franchise to date. The Penguins have a similar deal. Mark Recchi for Marc Andre Fleury through linked players basically.

neither. I believe that if Lindros had played for Quebec, the city would have embraced him and a new stadium would have been built... and Quebec would still be in the league

I wish it would have been the Rangers instead.

BTW, the Flyers gave up two 1st round picks in the deal for Lindros.

It's been covered. Read my original post. Only initial offers were considered. The arbitrator threw the second first rounder in.

Player for player the NYR deal was better. But we have to remember the Nordiques/Avs had not unlimited funds back then. They had to offload Ricci because of salary. So I suspect the salary chock would have come much faster with the Rangers deal, forcing them to offload players to a greater degree.

And in the end with Forsberg turning out as the player he did, you can't say they made a poor call.

Beezer, Amonte, Kovalev, Weight plus 20 million...I`d take that over the Philly proposal.
