Penner won't score 30 goals over his remaining NHL career...which may fizzle out after one more dismal year.

Penner has always been considered a good teammate and locker room guy

Terrific signing IMO.

Really like the Ducks forward depth and goaltending depth.

I hate your defense though Ducks fans...I have a hard time seeing this team finishing ahead of LA, San Jose, or Vancouver in our division even if Beauchemin has another Norris like season

Not really, Penner only really shows up in the payoffs.

Why is it hard to imagine? We did it last year by a healthy margin. Did we get worse? Did the others get better?

If the Kings had the cap space, my guess is they would've brought him back, bad regular season numbers and all.

Although I'm not sure the Kings could've done it for $2 million. Penner already took a million dollar pay cut after the Kings won the Cup to stay. They go out in the conference finals, and if the Kings ask him to take another million off that, it could be kind of insulting. Not that Penner's number in the regular season for the Kings screams for anything more than $2 million. Just more of a principle thing.

It's not the money, it's the term.

DL just wants him for the playoffs.

You got to a hot start and limped to the finish line.

You were consistently outshot over the course of the 48 game season.

Your teams CORSI numbers were some of the worst for a #2 seed in the history of the NHL.

Nearly every hockey fan who believed in analytics knew you were ripe for the picking in the first round.

Again, I'm not ripping the team....you'll finish 4th in the division ahead of my team

Yet somehow we lost a tight seven game battle against Detroit. Yep, ripe for the picking, and apparently not getting any better.

Eklund is such a hake. He tweets or steals info from the original source saying Penner to the Ducks. What a fraud.

But we lost to Detroit in 7 games with 3 overtimes and Detroit nearly beat the Stanley Cup champs in overtime game 7...And if I remember correctly were up 3-1 at one point.

He's so lazy, he didn't even want to have to move to another town.

Seriously though, I'd take Penner for $2m for 1 year, no question.

Our defense always gets underrated because there's no confidence-inducing names on it. Two years ago, it was the same, finished top-half in the league in goals-against, yet our defense was considered bottom-5 based on names/paper. It just matters more what they do on the ice, and that has been decent for a while. Not expecting another division win, certainly, but the defense shouldn't worry people to such a degree and it shouldn't receive hate.

I really like your team, i'm not being a hater at all.

I'm a big believer in analytics and the numbers painted the Ducks as more of a 7-seed than a 2-seed last year.

numbers dont go out and score goals, teams do. you can't measure a teams talent. this isnt a sim league

Agreed however when you're consistently getting outshot and outchanced it raises the likelihood of losing more games than winning

Low risk move, and I always liked Penner. I'm pretty happy about this.

Should be interesting to see PPG reunited after all these years.

From an outsider's perspective. I don't think Souray is a guy you want in your top 4 in the postseason. And from what I saw, he struggled in the latter part of the Detroit series.

Beauchemin and Fowler are solid pieces to your D. But I see alot of #5's.

Does your fantasy league take into account quality of chances

Good for the Ducks, good for Penner.
