Montreal may have just acquired Clifford from LA!

Dude Tinordi is the next Chara why would they trade him it would take something like Stamkos + Drouin to get him

For having listened to Bob Hartley on Montreal talk radio continually talk about what a great hockey player David Desharnais was, one would think that Hartley would have great interest in bringing this great player on board in Calgary. What would he be willing to offer up? I know there's not much on the current Flames roster - Glencross is worth more than Desharnais imo, so is Backlund. Maybe a prospect and a pick?

Marc Staal + Boyle + something, take your pick for Gorges + Pacioretty.

What the OP failed to mention is Montreal is in no position to be taking in players 26-27+yo... The core of our team is younger and we won't be serious cup contenders until they step in. The 2 deals mentioned above are probably close to fair value but just not worth it for the habs

I would like to add Roman Polak or Kevin Bieksa for playing with Gorges and Dave Steckel as 4th line center.

Jamie McGinn definitely interests me, even if it meant dealing Gorges.

Is the plus Stepan?

No thanks.

A player like Ward or Mcginn could be of interest to the habs for sure. If we were to deal Gorges we would need a decent dman coming back along with Mcginn.

Is Staal not a decent defenseman?

Absolutely but we won't deal max to get him. Bottom 6 grit isn't really a big deal so no point in dealing our only current PF for that and Staal who as much as I like him I don't ever want on my team cause he's gonna jump ship to Carolina first chance he gets

Make it McDonagh and we can talk

Sorry, finders keepers, losers weepers.

The whole Marc to Carolina thing is massively overblown. His brothers all have rings, he doesn't, and right now the Rangers look more like a contender than the Canes. I mean, if that's not his motivation, maybe he wants to go to Columbus because he's best buds with Dubinsky, Gaborik, Anisimov, etc.

Would have to convince him to waive his NTC, but you guys could probably have Bertuzzi for a mid-round draft pick.

Of course it is very doable to you. Doesn't do anything for us Blues fans. Thanks, but we have already dumped Perron in a deal to free up cap space. Taking a look at Bourque and Diaz salaries - with their cost we might as well just resign Stewart.

If we deal max it would be for Ryan not Marc

I honestly don't believe that the plus would be what montreal gives up. Plekanec is more important to a team than Kevin Bieksa, don't get me wrong, I like Bieksa his value alone wouldn't be enough for a 60 point two way center.

You do realize Montreal isn't a cup team or won't become one in 2 years. If we move the players that don't fit with the core for more guys who don't fit with the core we are just wasting assets. Read the proposals and tell me if they make Montreal a cup team in 2 years? If you have any hockey sense you'll see nope so were just gonna keep the guys we have

I was commenting on your very low age cut-off. Even a 30-y-o can not only contribute to a theoretical Cup run in 3-5 years, but he can also help to mentor the youngsters towards it. Hockey sense restored!
