Nyr - mtl

Rangers receive PK Subban

Canadians receive Dan Girardi, signed 3 yr for 5 million per, Ryan Callahan, signed 4yr 5 mil per, JT Miller, 1st round pick

Would this package be enough to land Subban to the Rangers?

MTL would do that in a heartbeat. But, why go hard for PK when Buff could be had for less?

I wouldn't do that because that would be too much.

The original proposal was more than enough. I think Montreal may still be looking for credit from the McDonagh-Gomez deal.

Just like the NYR should get a refund on the Ryan Clowne deal.

Those are good solid players, but the Habs need star power. I wouldn't remotely consider the offer from the Habs' POV, Subban is just too rare a commodity.

But I'm not convinced that Habs' management has the same philosophy, and "good solid players" may well appeal more to them than to me. I could see Bergevin doing it. I would then proceed to lament the deal, get the pitchfork down from the mantel, light the torches, and storm the Bell Center offices...

...Habs wouldn't touch that deal, or the one where he replaced Callahan with Kreider...Subban would cost more than anyone would reasonably be willing to pay...yes, even Sather...

If we could get Callahan and Girardi signed to those contracts, they would be done already, and there would be no reason to trade them.

Speaking of McDonagh you'd have to say good-bye to him if you want PK, we need a PMD back in any deal for Subban not Girardi + some size so would be Kreider not Callahan

Subban for McDonagh + Kreider, fair value trade? Nope but 29 teams would be bidding at the auction and we have no incentive to trade him

I think that you're offering some good players here. But the problem is that quantity does not equal quality. The best player in the trade is by far Subban and while they others are good, none of them is great. If Subban leaves, a similar status player (or close) must be coming the other way.

Nope. The deal would have to involve McDonagh which would make it pretty pointless for both sides

Even with Kreider instead of Callahan, I don't think it would happen for two reasons

1- Star power in Montreal means something a little bit more.
2- I don't see the NYR OFFERING this.

Its a fair offer. But I cant see it happening.

Fair enough from the Canadians POV. I'm just asking but would a Subban for McD be a fair deal? I'm just asking strictly for the value of it, considering McD is on an amazing contract while Subbans contract will probably go to the 7 for 7 range. Considering that McD plays arguably better D the Subban, and Subban plays better offensively, albeit not by much, would this be a fair deal?

Obviously I don't see it happening. Just for the fun of seeing if it's a fair deal if you were running your team.

I know you guys are desperate to get McDonagh back but... I don't even know if I would make the trade straight up. Let alone adding Kreider.

This, except "fair" is pushing it, even acknowledging Subban commands severe overpayment.

NO on moving kreider.
Should not even be in any trade proposals for at least a season and a half min, until NYR have ballpark idea as to what his true ceiling is.

To trade CK before is lunacy, barring ridiculous overpayment offer.
