Well, thank [something supernatural] it's just 1 year. I'm very pleased there's no long-term commitment. He is pretty good in the playoffs, if we get that far though.

Bob Murray is a better GM than Brian Burke. I've never questioned him.

-Got Beauchemin back
-Re-signed Perry and Getzlaf
-Signed Fasth, Boudreau
-Traded for Lovejoy, Cogliano, and others

I could go on.

Well I wouldn't be bragging about that one.

He could have just signed Beauchemin when he was a set to be a UFA. Thus keeping at least Lupul, Gardiner and probably him whos name shall not be spoken. Terrible asset management IMO.

Keeping whos name shall not be spoken is a huge assumption, and trading Lupul wasn't a mistake. Lupul was horrible in Anaheim. No one expected him to break out like he did.

Still though, it was a bad move. Beauch should have been signed before he even went to Toronto in the first place.

As for Penner, sure, he sucks. I'll admit that, but Getzlaf and Perry made him look half-decent before... so, maybe they can pull it off again?

Coming off a knee injury and what Beauchemin was asking for, I can't blame Murray.

The only reason Anaheim parted with Gardner was because Shultz was better. But we all know how that ended. Shultz should have told Anaheim that he didn't want to play there.

Good deal. Low risk, and he could bounce back in Anaheim

Wow first free agent signing in like 11 days, I guess Jagr/Morrow/Murray/Fistric will all start signing now hopefully...

NEED MOAR HOCKEY

I actually liked the idea of Penner on the habs, we'll see what he does with his old team.

Well given the Kings and Ducks are really not bitter rivals, (these guys hang out together in SoCal,) I would reduce that number by 17 goals...

dont see how anyone can criticize this signing
even at his mediocre average of the past contract this is fine for just one year at this price, and if he brings any of the good stuff he brought during the cup run, this is gold

Any time you see a Ducks fan use "the twins" we're referring to Getzlaf and Perry. Don't know which player or coach started it but they've been known as "the twins" since their rookie years.

Quoted for truth...absolutely zero risk in this signing. If it doesn't pan out, then the Ducks will just let him go after the year.

Penner has proven chemistry with Getz/Perry and the Ducks were able to acquire him on a very affordable contract. I like this signing for the Ducks IMO.

Jakob Silfverberg, the guy they got for Ryan. I say that hypothetically, given they've obviously never played together, and giving him a nickname that probably doesn't exist(too lazy to type of Silfverberg at the time). I can see where anyone would get confused.

Ducks trade Ryan.. get some good young guys for the future... cut salary cap... Sign Penner for 2 million cut cap further.. have 4 mill cap space with a 23 man roster.... not rocket science.

What's that Sun Tzu thing.. 1 bag of rice stolen from your enemy is worth 10 bags of your own rice? Guess in this case it is a 240lb bag of pancakes...

The only thing that makes this more depressing is if Kyle Clifford signs for 500k less then Penner to play the 2nd line

Anyone want to kick my dog too...

Of course not. Pacific division team didn't play Pacific division opponents in shortened season.
