Edited right after to Kessel, not McDonagh (though he has more value too). Meant to say Kessel because that is who they're giving up and getting back just RNH is pretty bad for them.

I will give OP credit, value is very good but EDM center depth would be bad without RNH and while I'd love Kessel, we don't need a winger bad enough to trade our 1 a/B dman on a sweet contract

I'm glad someone can look at this without their homer glasses on.

The problem for me is, yes D could be called a position of strength, but that means we can move some depth at that position. It doesn't mean we can just go and trade our best player at that position thereby making it a weakness to fix RW. It's the old borrowing from Peter to pay Paul.

That is offensive to the OP. He (probably) worked hard to put this together, so show some respect.

Yeah I would think a recent first overall who had great rookie campaign and has huge upside would carry good value. But the 30 point dman who plays in front of one of the best goaltenders in the world is worth so much more spare me .Mac t hangs up fast keep your 30 point dman.

How is trading our #1 D for a RWer fillinga need? M.Staal with his injuries and the risk for a flight to Carolina doesn't exactly make McDonagh less valuble to us.

We already got Nash and Callahan as our RW. AND we need our capspace, can't afford to take on Kessel.

So what need does this fit now again?

30 points with 10 seconds of PP time per game. I think any team would like to have that.

I wasn't aware that center was a position of strength for the Oilers. Perhaps OP knows something us Oilers fans don't.

Top 10 in scoring 2 straight seasons, 4 consecutive 30 goal seasons... LOL right.

Good proposal, though. Kessel is easily (currently) the best player here. Don't think EDM gives up their 1st and Nuge for Mcdonagh though.

yep.. we have 2 legit 1st liners in Stepan and Nash.. just need another guy, I think we could do that either through FA next year maybe, or through another trade without giving up Mac.

Oilers roll with Gagner and Gordon as their top 6 C's.

Rangers roll with Nash, Kessel, and Callahan on the RW. Get less money to resign their players and risk losing Staal to Carolina as well, that'd be great for us!...

Good for Toronto.

which is why the trade doesn't work, but the "value" is very good.

Awful value for the Oilers a potential high pick and a potential 100 point C, that's what I think about the value.

Why make a trade where you know with 100% certainty it'll never ever happen in real life?

Leafs get bent over in this trade if RNH doesn't live up to the hype. Kessel is living up to the hype and then some.

Oilers say **** no, we really want Boyd Gordon as our 2nd line center. This deal works for the Leafs. That's it.
