Modano, Zubov, Stars struggle?

Was this just a bad season for the entire team or are Modano and Zubov going nowhere but downhill from now?

Sorry - my state of sarcasm grows since I had no Stars hockey this past season.

Mo and Zubie are getting a bit older although I think MO has more troubles...

Modano had a bad season where he wasn't really into it for several reasons. The skills are absolutely still there and still amazing.

All you had to do was watch the World Championship games to see him flying around and taking control to see that Modano still has it. *yeah for people who sent me tapes*

He (Mo) sure had a bad season. There were all kinds of excuses for it and I'm sure his skills are still there. However, it remains to be seen if he ever can compete at the same level he did a couple of years ago. It's a shame tho....

Specifically, what sort of problems was he having? I didnt really see much of the Stars play in 03/04, but I've heard a lot of people say Mo played like crap. Was his shooting off? has he lost a step speed wise? Was he just making poor decision? Was he being lazy? Avoiding physical contact? Was he concentrating too much or too little on defense?

It was all mental. His head just wasn't in the game, period.

I just can't see MM being on the downside of his career yet. Neither him, nor Zubov.
All I know is that as an Avs fan, I'd love either of them on our team...LOL!

Personally I don't think it was a real bad season. I'm ok to say Stars could do better that's normal. The problem was the beginning of the season (1st half) when we was around 12 - 13 th of western conference and a 6-1 killing lost against Detroit. But in the second half of the season I'm sure that we had one of the best team of the nhl (like I remember a 4-0 win colorado). the stars worked a lot to finish 5th for sure.

My opinion on this : I think the problem is not the player who getting old or anything else. I think it's tippett the problem I don't want to bash him because (86-47-27) is a very good result. but since he is here he tries some experience, (eg : 1st match of the playoffs putting Zubov as a foward or modano in PP was often around the net whereas before he take the place of a D-man for his slapshot) and rarely goods one. It's not the worst Coach too but I think if the stars want to be a challenger to the stanley cup they need a coach who can do that.
