Amy Moritz ‏@amymoritz - With @NiagaraUHockey product Carsen Chubak injured -
@GriffsHockey alum Tony Capobianco gets his first AHL start for @phantomshockey tonight.

LaxSabre - Unfortunately the Phantoms blew a 2-0 third period and lost to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 3-2 in overtime. Tony Capobianco made 24 saves for his first loss as a professional. Theres a good chance Tony will play in the Phantoms season finale at Hershey tonight.

Friday also marked the professional debut for Flyers’ prospect Shayne Gostisbehere. Gostisbehere, who was drafted in the third round of the 2012 draft by the Flyers, was signed to an entry level contract on April 15, fresh off his win with Union College in the Frozen Four Tournament which took place last weekend at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA.

Gostisbehere fit right in. He pushed hard all game, playing with a physical edge, and he was not scared to rip shots on net. He finished with three shots in the game, and an even rating in what was a solid debut from the young defenseman.

Gostisbehere's entire team from Union College trekked up from Schenectady to enjoy the night as well. And the national champions were announced and acknowledged in the third period. The group of Gostisbehere rooters screamed from Section G on some of the "Ghost's" first ever pro plays in the first period making it previous obvious to 5,500 others in the building whom they were there to see.

Gostisbehere Signs With Philadelphia Flyers - UnionCollege Athletics - Union Athletics.com - Tuesday, April 15 -

Canisius Hockey Names 2013-2014 Award Winners - Canisius College Athletics - GoGriffs.com - Monday, May 5.

http://www.gogriffs.com/ViewArticle....CLID=209489960

Ben Danford - Most Valuable Player.
Kyle Gibbons - Top Forward.
Shane Conacher - Rookie Of The Year.
Ryan Bohrer - Dr. David B. Dietz Award (Player with both Athletic and Scholastic dedication).
Patrick Sullivan - Tom Chapman Memorial Award (Unsung Hero).
Braden Rigney - Most Improved Player.
Keegan Asmundson - Community Outreach.

All-Time Award Winners - http://www.gogriffs.com/ViewArticle....ATCLID=3743710

LaxSabre - Congrats to all the winners! Can't argue with the first three winners as well as the Unsung Hero/Most Improved Player ones. Had to pass on agree/disagree on the other two awards because they are off-the-ice awards. Seems Canisius forgot to name a Hasek Heroes Award Winner for this season unless the award is no more. (There was a winner last season - Preston Shupe who became a three time winner.)

Has any team ever won the Cup with two gingers? With Eichel and Compher, perhaps the Sabres could be the first.

Aren't the Red Wings typically full of Gingers (Swedes)?
