Possible AHL move to Nassau

Hey guys!

I just wanted to get some opinions of yours if possible. I'm doing a little research project of my own and wanted to see your opinions.

If MSG wins the bid to renovate Nassau Coliseum and we see the Wolfpack move there in 16-17 after the XL Center lease expires, would you attend more AHL games? How would it impact you?

Please pick one of the poll options and if you can, expand your thoughts on it or the possible move by commenting. The more information you can give me, the better. Thanks in advance for the help guys!!

Please select ONE of the first 8 options and ONE of the last two options. Thanks!

New York Wolfpack.

That has a positively lovely ring.

Yes I would attend more games. As long as the farm is doing well and our drafting is solid, the move would realize a hell of a lot more in attendance.

Frankly, you'd probably have to deal w a good amount of ppl valuing cheaper 'Rangers' hockey and putting their NHL dough into the Pack instead.

You New Yorkers have the Rangers, stop trying to take my Wolf Pack out of Hartford

I only see the Wolfpack when they are away. That wouldn't change for me. I think they should toss the Devils out of Albany and bring in the Wolfpack though lol

I think it would be great for our prospects. I'd much prefer a move closer to home base. And we could finally call NVMC MSG East officially!

I live closer to NVMC than MSG, so I would definitely come watch a few games if I'm still here

I live 20 minutes away from the Coliseum and the tickets would be cheap. I wouldn't be opposed at all.

I live about 6 blocks from the Coliseum. If I can get good seats and the Rangers aren't on, I'll be there for the Wolfpack games.

I'd be all over that if it happened. One of my favorite events every year in the FDNY-NYPD hockey game at the Coliseum. Great tailgate atmosphere.

I live 10 minutes outside Hartford. I would not pay nearly as much attention if they moved to LI.

I'm curious as to what MSG's motivation would be to run the Coliseum other than this since no one else seems to have any use for it.

There are other bidders - predominantly the Ratners (not the CEO of MSG...) who designed Barclay's.

If there's any justice in the world, an AHL team in the Coliseum would become known as the Long Island Ducks. The Ducks were one of the great cult teams in minor professional hockey and many of us long time Ranger fans cut our teeth on hockey on Long Island.

Would the games be televised here? Assuming they would I would watch a bunch of games on TV. But head out from Manhattan to LI to watch them play live? Probably not.

Make more money. If they owned both arenas and say Taylor Swift comes and does 20 shows in the area. 5at MSG, 5 at the rock, 5 at Barclay's, and 5 at the coliseum they would make money on 10 of the shows instead of just 5.

I really would love this move. I'd love to make a weekly hockey outing with my son that is affordable and close to home. Win/win for me in every way.

I live in the New Haven Area; it's already a 45 minute drive both ways for me. If they moved to LI, I probably wouldn't bother seeing any games unless I was already on the island for something.

I have been to one Wolfpack game. Game 2 of the Calder Cup Finals in 2000. Only reason I even went to that was because my sister graduated college that afternoon and I stopped on the way home to see the game. Not going to drive out to Long Island for an AHL game.

Thanks for the comments/votes everyone. I need to get a draft in by Friday, so if everyone who hasn't voted please do so! Thanks!

Comments are also more useful than votes, so anything you can say will be very helpful!

Understand what you are saying, but I believe MSG's plan is to reduce the number of seats. At least last I read that was the plan. With that in mind, acts that can fill up MSG are not going to be playing at the Coliseum.
